Description

You will build the software that runs and manages the company's quantum hardware, from time-critical laser and FPGA control up to whole-system setup, diagnostics and feedback.

You will join the QPU software engineering team and work alongside physicists, systems architects and hardware engineers to build the tools and infrastructure behind precise, reliable and scalable quantum operations.

Responsibilities

  • Build software for designing and running quantum experiments, including pulse sequence generation, device coordination and real-time system control.
  • Create and maintain APIs and middleware that link hardware control layers such as FPGAs, DACs and timing systems to higher-level orchestration software and compilers.
  • Set up dependable communication and synchronization protocols across embedded and distributed components.
  • Work with system architects and physicists to turn experiment needs into testable, high-performance features.
  • Help write diagnostic and calibration routines that validate hardware and monitor its performance.
  • Build automation tools, test infrastructure, system state management and logging.
  • Take part in system bring-up, integration testing and debugging across disciplines.
  • Help shape architecture decisions, review code and set good engineering practices for the team.

Requirements

  • Required: a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, physics or a related field.
  • Required: 5+ years of experience developing software for hardware control, embedded systems or distributed systems.
  • Required: strong Python and/or C/C++ skills and hands-on work with hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART and Ethernet.
  • Required: experience with real-time systems or hardware-in-the-loop control.
  • Required: familiarity with timing systems such as PTP and with communication stacks.
  • Required: skill in system integration, testing and performance tuning.
  • Preferred: experience with scientific instrumentation, lab automation or quantum hardware control systems.
  • Preferred: familiarity with FPGA systems, DAC/ADC control or pulse sequencing frameworks.
  • Preferred: exposure to embedded Linux, RTOS or custom firmware development.
  • Preferred: knowledge of calibration, feedback or control loop algorithms.
  • Preferred: experience on multidisciplinary teams working across hardware, software and science.
