Project Manager – Cabling & Infrastructure

  • Remote
  • 3-6 years

Salary

$100,000 - 110,000/ year

Description

You will run several IT infrastructure projects from start to finish, delivering each one against an approved statement of work (SOW) and the company's PMO method.

You lead Professional Services teams that design, plan, manage, deliver and hand over technology solutions on schedule, within budget and with strong customer service.

The projects cover low-voltage cabling, audio-visual, unified communications, networking, security and threat management, and data center builds.

You coordinate with client and internal technical teams, and you handle internal and external communication and project costs.

The role has no direct reports, but you direct the people assigned to your projects.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and direct the daily work on assigned engagements, and report project activity and status.
  • Lead the team with clear direction and strong leadership so services and processes run effectively.
  • Carry out planning, execution, control and closing according to the company's project management methodology.
  • Oversee deliverables from third-party vendors and partners, working alongside each vendor's project manager.
  • Keep tasks and deliverables aligned with the SOW, and when new scope appears, lead change management and write a project change request.
  • Make sure delivery consultants log their time per policy, that assigned resources are available and working to plan, and that workflow and tools are used correctly.
  • Meet or beat profitability targets, make sure invoices go out on time, and track and report earned value.
  • Build and maintain the master project plan, compare actual progress with plan, analyse variances, correct course, and track milestones and quality gates.
  • Identify and document known risks throughout each engagement, and apply suitable mitigation.
  • Write a communication plan that sets the cadence and content of meetings, status reports and escalations for customers, stakeholders and the project team.
  • Confirm that deliverables are validated and handed over as the SOW requires, and that the customer is satisfied.
  • Apply deep knowledge of project management methods, practices, tools and techniques, and collaborate effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • Document and share lessons learned to improve processes.
  • Show the company's values in your daily conduct.
  • Know the relevant federal, state and local laws and company policies, and act honestly, ethically and professionally.
  • Deliver customer service in line with company expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus formal project management training (preferred).
  • Or an associate's degree in a related field with extensive IT and/or low-voltage cabling experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are accepted.
  • Experience leading projects in new construction or remodel settings (preferred).
  • Five years of project management and/or technical team lead experience on IT Professional Services infrastructure deployments in the technologies listed above.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project, and experience with Project, Project Portfolio or Workforce Management systems.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • CAPM, ITIL, and/or technical certifications.
  • Ability to work through a high level of ambiguity and many requests from different sources.
  • Ability to manage several projects at once and balance client and resource needs across them.
  • Polished, professional communication, both written and spoken, with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to hold business-level conversations with customers and help them deploy solutions that meet their business requirements.
  • Physical demands: you spend most of the time seated, talking, seeing, hearing and using your hands and arms; you often stand, move, climb steps, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and you occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.

Conditions

Based at the company's office in the Tempe, AZ metropolitan area, so candidates must live locally.

Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM, with one optional floating day each week that can be worked remotely on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
