Description

The company is hiring a project manager to help with rapid growth in data centers, AI infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, battery storage and other large-load work across North America.

The role mixes client advisory, business development, technical due diligence and hands-on delivery. You help clients handle utility and transmission interconnection issues, from early site selection and power availability checks through utility talks, interconnection studies, infrastructure planning and project delivery, while building and leading a multidisciplinary team.

You act as the day-to-day technical lead for developers, hyperscalers, utilities, independent power producers and investors across the project lifecycle. The role suits someone who takes initiative unprompted, will do whatever the project needs (from a client pitch to a model run), knows when to lead and when to step back, and wants to build a strong team as much as advance personally.

The company is a Fortune 500 firm with $16.1 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025 and more than 50,000 staff.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with data center developers, hyperscalers, utilities, transmission owners, renewable developers and large industrial customers.
  • Find and pursue work in grid interconnection, utility service strategy, transmission planning and power infrastructure.
  • Write proposals, define scope, set fees and give client presentations.
  • Speak for the company at industry conferences, client workshops and business development events, then bring what you learn back to the team.
  • Grow the company's Power Interconnection practice through strong client service, successful delivery and building the team and its capabilities.
  • Run several interconnection, due diligence and power advisory projects at the same time.
  • Lead planning, scheduling, budgeting, resourcing and client communication.
  • Coordinate teams of transmission planners, electrical engineers, civil engineers, environmental specialists and permitting professionals.
  • Track project risks and plan mitigations to keep schedule and budget on target.
  • Produce reports, presentations and client recommendations, and stay close enough to the work to spot problems before the client does.
  • Lead technical due diligence for data center and large-load site selection, assessing power infrastructure, utility readiness and transmission access.
  • Direct siting studies that weigh grid access and interconnection timelines alongside a site's technical and commercial viability.
  • Advise clients on utility limits, transmission capacity, interconnection queues, network upgrades, reliability and development risk early enough to shape the site decision.
  • Guide clients through utility coordination, interconnection procedures and regulatory requirements in North American markets.
  • Build power strategies that match infrastructure schedules to grid availability and project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Energy Systems or a related field, plus 6 years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Proven experience on utility, data center, renewable energy, generation, transmission or large-load projects.
  • Proven experience managing technical projects and working directly with clients.
  • Demonstrated experience on data center, AI infrastructure, semiconductor or advanced manufacturing projects.
  • 6 years of project management experience.
  • You have worked in energy infrastructure development, power system consulting, utility planning, interconnection services or transmission planning.
  • Preferred: master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Energy Systems or a related field.
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Preferred: 10+ years of progressive experience in transmission planning, interconnection services or power system consulting, including winning and leading client work.
  • Preferred: prior management of power systems, utility infrastructure and transmission planning principles.
  • Preferred: knowledge of PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, NYISO, ISO-NE and regulated utility environments.
  • Preferred: experience and proven results in client relationships and business development.
  • Preferred: experience leading technical due diligence or siting work tied to power availability.
  • Preferred: experience with utility service studies, load and generator interconnections, and transmission planning studies.
  • Preferred: familiarity with NERC, FERC, ISO and RTO requirements.
  • Preferred: experience using PSSE, PSLF, PowerWorld, PSCAD, ETAP, EMTP/ATP, Promod or similar tools.
  • Preferred: prior experience building or growing a technical team or practice, and a real interest in doing that again here.
