Description

You will run Material Capital Repair and Replacement (MCRR) projects at wastewater plants and conveyance facilities, working with plant and conveyance operations and maintenance staff to define project needs, prepare bid plans and specifications, and oversee contractor work.

You will coordinate work flow with the Capital Project Coordinator Manager and act as the contact for the client, making sure required processes are followed and customer expectations are met.

Work is split roughly 50% in the office and 50% in the field.

The company is a large North American environmental services firm offering water, wastewater, waste and energy management services to commercial, industrial, healthcare, higher education and municipal customers. It is headquartered in Boston and has more than 10,000 employees across more than 350 locations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with O&M planners and supervisors to define MCRR projects, and write MCRR project request reports under the Capital Project Manager's direction for submission to the Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) Contract Compliance Office (CCO).
  • Analyze CMMS data to support project development, and read and apply reference materials such as manuals and schematics.
  • Coordinate closely with the Capital Project Coordinator Manager on work scheduling and assignments.
  • Write the technical scope for public bid packages and assemble the full package with procurement, then review it with the MMSD CCO.
  • On publicly bid projects, attend the prebid meeting, log prebid questions and review bids.
  • Oversee contractor work to confirm specification compliance, track progress and sign off on completion. Promptly identify scope changes and notify the MMSD CCO, and document work with photos and written records.
  • Build and keep a strong working relationship with the MMSD CCO representative.
  • Actively manage contractors to meet on-site safety requirements, including training.
  • Send the Capital Project Coordinator a monthly status update on assigned MCRR projects for departmental reporting.
  • Complete required company training, including safety topics, take part in the annual performance review, and handle other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Preferred: 1-3 years of experience with a CMMS.
  • Highly preferred: experience in water or wastewater.
  • Strong skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases and project management software, including Google and Microsoft products.
  • Clear communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with and motivate staff at every level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applicable laws, regulations, the company's Code of Business Conduct and other company policies.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Required: registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training.
  • Required: confined space training certification.
  • Field visits are frequent, to MCRR sites at Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility, South Shore Water Reclamation Facility or conveyance facilities. Sites may involve working at heights, below ground or in confined spaces.
