Project Engineer - Data Center Construction

Description

The company is hiring a self-starting Project Engineer to support a client on a data centre construction project, mainly by coordinating core project activities.

This is a support and reporting role, and you will report directly to the client's construction project managers.

For more than 75 years the company has delivered programmes in real estate, infrastructure and natural resources, and its work includes facilities people rely on every day.

Responsibilities

• Take on assigned tasks across the construction process.
• Write up meeting minutes and action items, then push each one to closure.
• Keep the project compliant with document control rules and file specifications.
• Manage closeout specification requirements and the turnover paperwork that goes with them.
• Work regularly with the client project team and contractor staff.
• Help with payment applications and progress reporting.
• Log, record and report requests for information and change orders so others can review and sign them off.
• Coordinate meetings and administer project observation reports.
• Hand closeout documents over to operations.
• Prepare agendas and papers for scheduled design engineering meetings and drive actions to closure.
• Help client project managers apply project specifications.
• Rank input needed from internal stakeholders so it arrives in time for scheduled deadlines.
• Help the project manager prepare monthly financial updates and forecasts.
• Run page-turn reviews and record comments and action items for the internal team.
• Where relevant, coordinate work closely with operations.
• Understand why mission-critical facilities must keep running.
• Support the commissioning team.
• SOX control duties may form part of the role and must be followed where they apply.
• Take on other duties management assigns from time to time.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years working as a Project Engineer on construction projects of growing complexity, assisting or supervising.
• Experience with CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
• Comfortable with numbers, technology and web-based data platforms, with strong MS Office skills.
• Preferred: experience in facility construction.
• Strong preference: a background in construction management.
