Product Owner – PeopleSoft Accounts Receivable & Billing - Global Industrial

This senior functional analyst role centers on PeopleSoft Billing and Accounts Receivable, keeping both modules running well and improving them over time.

You need deep working knowledge of both modules, covering transactions from start to finish, the interfaces between them, and how their data reaches the PeopleSoft General Ledger (GL).

You will work with Finance, Accounting, IT and business teams to turn their needs into PeopleSoft solutions that scale, work through difficult problems, support system changes, and keep processing and reconciliation accurate.

Billing entries come from manual input, outside systems or interface files. Billing then produces invoices and open receivable items in AR. AR tracks open items, balances, payments, maintenance, collections, deductions and adjustments. Accounting entries follow the configured rules and distributions, and journals move to the GL for processing, review, posting and reporting. The role helps keep data, accounting treatment and balances accurate and reconcilable across all three.

Responsibilities

• Act as the functional expert on PeopleSoft Billing and Accounts Receivable.
• Study business needs and design functional solutions for billing, invoicing, receivables, payments, collections, deductions and accounting.
• Set up and maintain Billing and AR components: business units, bill types and sources, accounting rules, item types, payment terms, customer records and accounting distributions.
• Trace billing transactions from source data through invoices, AR items, payment application, accounting entries and GL posting.
• Define functional specifications with technical teams for interfaces, reports, conversions, enhancements and integrations.
• Find and fix billing, receivable, accounting and integration exceptions.
• Check accounting entries and reconcile Billing, AR and GL.
• Support month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations, accounting review and issue fixes.
• Lead or assist testing: plan tests, write test cases, run user acceptance testing and manage defects.
• Write process documents, functional specifications, training material and operating procedures.
• Provide production support and guidance to business users on Billing and AR.
• Look for ways to strengthen controls, automate work, improve data quality and speed up processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Substantial hands-on functional experience with PeopleSoft Billing and Accounts Receivable.
• Solid grasp of Billing: bill entry, finalization, invoice generation, bill adjustments and accounting.
• Solid grasp of AR: item management, payments, deposits, maintenance, collections, deductions, write-offs and accounting.
• Clear knowledge of how data and integrations flow between Billing, AR and GL.
• Experience with accounting entry generation, journal creation, journal interfaces and reconciliations in PeopleSoft.
• Skill at analyzing complicated business and system problems, finding root causes and proposing workable fixes.
• Experience writing functional requirements and working with developers and integration teams.
• Experience supporting system testing, production releases and post-go-live support.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, documentation and problem-solving skills.
• Preferred: experience with PeopleSoft Financials implementations, upgrades or major enhancement projects.
• Preferred: knowledge of PeopleSoft Integration Broker, file-based interfaces, APIs or middleware.
• Preferred: experience with PeopleSoft Query, reporting tools and data analysis.
• Preferred: knowledge of financial controls, revenue processes, receivables management and GL reconciliation.
• Preferred: experience in a large environment with multiple business units.
• No licenses or certifications are required.
