Product Designer, Growth

The company builds AI products used by people and businesses around the world, and product teams combine research, engineering, product, data and design work.

Design shapes how AI feels to use: intuitive, useful and trustworthy. The team keeps a high quality bar while shipping quickly and learning from real use, and prefers early validation and steady refinement over polishing everything before release.

The role focuses on how startups, small businesses and growing teams find ChatGPT, start using it and keep getting value from it. You will own growth experiences across the full customer journey.

This is a hands-on role for a designer who combines strong craft with product judgment and a willingness to experiment. You will work on some of the company's most interesting growth problems, treating metrics as puzzles and using creativity, product intuition and testing to find new opportunities and learn fast through iteration.

The role is based in the San Francisco headquarters. Relocation assistance is offered to new employees.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design for growth experiences across ChatGPT.
• Design and improve experiences at each lifecycle stage: discovery, onboarding, activation, engagement, collaboration, conversion and retention.
• Turn unclear opportunities into testable hypotheses, convincing prototypes and polished product experiences.
• Raise the standard for interaction design, visual craft, systems thinking, content and overall coherence.
• Work closely with product, engineering, data science, research and go-to-market teams on both strategy and delivery.
• Use quantitative data, experiments, research and qualitative insight to find opportunities and judge results.
• Turn complex, fast-changing AI capabilities into approachable experiences for people with varied technical backgrounds.
• Balance long-term product vision with quick, iterative execution.
• Create reusable patterns and insights that strengthen growth experiences across ChatGPT.

Requirements

• Show a portfolio of complex, shipped products that demonstrates strong product thinking, interaction design and visual craft.
• Have led significant product initiatives from early exploration through launch and iteration.
• Use product judgment to connect user needs, business goals, technical possibilities and measurable outcomes.
• Work comfortably with data and experiments, weighing quantitative signals against research, intuition and design judgment.
• Move quickly without losing clarity, coherence, trust or craft.
• Use AI fluently to explore, prototype, communicate and extend what you can build.
• Turn ambiguous, fast-moving problems into a clear point of view and concrete product direction.
• Tell strong stories and build prototypes that get cross-functional teams aligned.
• Want to rethink established growth patterns and invent AI-native interactions.
• Care about building products that are useful, trustworthy and worth users' time.
• Experience in growth design or developer products is helpful but not required. The team is most interested in designers with strong product judgment, exceptional craft, and proof that their work changed user behavior or business outcomes.
