Principal Software Engineer

Description

The company has been working in computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for over 25 years, and is now applying AI to shape the next phase of computing, where its GPUs act as the core processing unit in computers, robots, and self-driving cars.

The team is building the next generation of AI platforms and products that make business operations more efficient and productive. The role is a senior, hands-on full-stack position with a strong technical focus, and you will help set the architecture, development, and scaling of the company's software systems as a key leader in the technology group.

You should be familiar with RAG and agentic AI so you can build AI products using current agentic approaches, third-party platforms, and open-source repositories. You will work alongside the cloud and AI/ML and generative AI teams in an agile, multifaceted setting that responds to the business's immediate and changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy agentic AI systems that use LLMs for reasoning, planning, and coordinating tools across enterprise workflows.
• Design and implement multi-agent frameworks that handle coordination, delegation, and dynamic task execution.
• Connect agents to enterprise data sources, APIs, and internal microservices so they can take real actions.
• Develop scalable platforms for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), long-term memory, and contextual reasoning.
• Build reusable infrastructure for agent orchestration, tool integration, evaluation, and observability.
• Set best practices for agent evaluation, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Keep autonomous systems reliable, safe, and performant at scale.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end intelligent experiences across applications.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical design of complex distributed AI systems.
• Track advances in LLMs, agent frameworks, tool use, reasoning architectures, and open-source ecosystems.

Requirements

• Hold a BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, electrical or computer engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent experience.
• Have 15+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native applications, with Python preferred.
• Have strong experience designing and deploying LLM-based systems, including RAG, tool use, and agent architectures.
• Understand agentic AI paradigms well, including planning, memory, tool invocation, and multi-step reasoning.
• Have experience with agent frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangChain or similar.
• Have a proven record of designing systems that are reliable, scalable, and high-performing.
• Have hands-on experience deploying applications on Kubernetes and building systems in cloud and hybrid environments.
• Have strong programming skills across several languages and modern software stacks.
• Have a proven track record of leading complex technical initiatives and mentoring high-performing teams.
• Bring strong problem-solving, communication, and system design skills.
• Nice to have: experience using generative AI solutions to improve enterprise efficiency and employee experience.
• Nice to have: enjoyment of unusual, hard problems, and persistence in finding solutions.
• Nice to have: experience with cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Nice to have: self-motivation and a drive to see work through to done.
• Nice to have: strong Python skills across programming, debugging, performance analysis, and test design.
• Nice to have: hands-on experience with test automation, production testing, and automation frameworks.
• Nice to have: working knowledge of Linux, embedded systems, firmware, and hardware/software integration.

The base salary range is 248,000 USD to 391,000 USD, set by location, experience, and pay for similar roles.
