Description

The company is building on the frontier of applied AI and works closely with applied AI engineers, growth strategists, forward deployed engineers and operators.

This is a principal-level role based in the San Francisco office, five days a week, reporting to the head of product. It is a player-coach role: you do hands-on design yourself and lead the team, with a path toward Head of Design over time.

You will take on the existing design team and grow it from there, keeping the company design first as it scales.

Responsibilities

  • Own all product design for the company, end to end.
  • Lead the current design team from day one and grow it.
  • Keep the company design first as headcount and product grow.
  • Work hand in hand with applied AI engineers, growth strategists, forward deployed engineers and operators.
  • Set and maintain the design quality bar and the design system across every product surface.
  • Do design work yourself while leading the team.

Requirements

  • You have led product design end to end at a product company and have a shipped portfolio to show.
  • You have led and grown a design team, ideally by taking over an existing one.
  • You live in San Francisco or are willing to relocate, and you work from the office.
  • You can build a design-first culture, not just run a design process.
  • You have made engineers, growth and operators better by working inside their work rather than handing off to them.
  • You have guided a design team through fast change without losing people or lowering the bar.
  • You have strong taste and can explain it clearly to people who do not design.
  • Nice to have: experience at an early-stage or high-growth company.
  • Nice to have: hands-on prototyping skills, with code or AI tools.

Conditions

Based in the San Francisco office, in the office five days a week.

Reports to the head of product.

Equal opportunity employer: applicants are considered without regard to protected characteristics.
