This role reports to the director of the core services group. It suits a senior technical leader who stays hands-on, turns technical vision into delivery and raises engineering standards on a fast-moving platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and build of secure, resilient cloud platform features for the core services platform.
  • Shape architecture and engineering choices across microservices, REST APIs, data design, CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
  • Mentor and lead development teams through complex problem solving, design reviews and quality of delivery.
  • Champion cloud technology, modern engineering methods and AI-assisted development tools across the company.
  • Work with directors, architects, product teams and engineering leads so technical direction supports platform and business goals.

Requirements

  • Essential: Have led teams, shaped architecture or steered engineering direction.
  • Essential: Write strong design and code, with a record of high-quality technical results.
  • Essential: Have built microservice or service-oriented architectures and designed REST APIs.
  • Essential: Have worked in C/.NET or several programming languages, and understand database design, CI/CD and infrastructure as code well.
  • Essential: Have worked with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms.
  • Desired: Experience with Kubernetes, containers or cloud-native application platforms.
  • Desired: Experience with Angular or an equivalent web development framework.
  • Desired: Experience using AI-assisted coding tools to raise productivity and software quality.
  • Desired: Communicate clearly, take ownership, adapt, stay curious, and motivate others through technical influence.

Conditions

Full-time regular employment.

Hybrid working: most roles are based at a local office, with on-site presence for 50% of working hours to support collaboration. The role may be hired in several countries. Benefits follow the primary location, and packages are similarly comprehensive, though specific benefits vary by country.

The company is committed to recruiting and retaining people with disabilities, and candidates who need reasonable support during applying can ask in advance.

Benefits

  • UK benefits: flexible benefits fund, emergency leave days, adoption leave, 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pension, life cover, private medical insurance, parental leave and an education assistance program.
