HP Wolf Security is changing the future of endpoint security through delivering secure PCs with advanced hardware-enforced security features. We are growing the R&D team in Cambridge, UK and we’re looking for Principal level browser software engineer to join the HP Wolf Security R&D team. You will be designing and developing our innovative security solution based on micro-virtualization and contributing to new features and products. We’re looking for a talented software engineer with background in Browser technologies and C++ development. This is a fantastic full-time opportunity for a collaborative, hands on and experienced software developer to join a small but growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain core features of HP Wolf Security's secure browsing products
  • Design, code, debug, test and optimize software using modern C++
  • Develop secure browser capabilities on Chromium-based browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge)
  • Develop and enhance Firefox-based secure browser functionality using JavaScript, TypeScript and Gecko technologies
  • Build and maintain browser extensions and web-based functionality
  • Develop automation, testing and validation frameworks using Python
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software defects, performance issues and security vulnerabilities
  • Participate in architecture and technical design discussions
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, security researchers and product teams to deliver enterprise security solutions
  • Perform code reviews and contribute to software quality, maintainability and engineering best practices

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience developing software in modern C++
  • Proficient in software design, coding, debugging, testing and performance optimisation
  • Experience developing software for Windows environments
  • Experience working with JavaScript and/or TypeScript
  • Experience developing browser-based applications, browser extensions or web technologies
  • Knowledge of Chromium and/or Firefox browser architectures and code bases
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles, data structures and algorithms
  • Experience using source control systems and modern software development practices (Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub)
  • Experience contributing to automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and software quality initiatives
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent practical experience
  • A Great Browser Software Engineer will have exposure to the following
  • Cybersecurity, endpoint security or secure browsing technologies
  • Python development for automation and test tooling
  • Firefox Gecko internals or Chromium browser internals
  • Cloud technologies and services (Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform)
  • Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash or similar technologies
  • Technical leadership, mentoring or architecture design activities

Conditions

This role is based in HP’s Cambridge office under a hybrid working arrangement, with a minimum requirement to be onsite three days per week. As a people ‑ focused senior role, regular in ‑ person collaboration is encouraged.
