The company makes embedded semiconductor solutions for automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT markets, and is hiring a principal to set the technical direction for its next AI software platforms and deployment technologies across embedded and edge products.
The role spans software architecture, AI model deployment, compiler ecosystems, runtime integration, heterogeneous computing and hardware/software co-design.
The goal is to make AI workloads efficient and scalable to deploy on many kinds of hardware, and to build a lasting software base for future AI tools, model translation, runtime systems, development environments and customer deployment solutions.
Responsibilities
Set and drive the long-term AI software architecture across model translation, compiler, runtime and deployment layers.
Make architecture decisions for AI deployment on heterogeneous hardware, including CPUs, MCUs, MPUs, NPUs, DSPs, GPUs and future accelerators.
Steer the development of compiler and runtime technology, including integration with LLVM/MLIR or comparable compiler ecosystems where it makes sense.
Work with hardware, software, product, application engineering and customer-facing teams to turn platform needs into technical roadmaps that can be executed.
Lead hardware/software co-design discussions that shape future AI acceleration and software platform capabilities.
Mentor senior engineers and technical leads and help build architecture thinking across globally distributed teams.
Present the technical direction in architecture reviews, roadmap talks, customer workshops, partner meetings and executive technical reviews.
Travel up to 30% internationally, which may be required for global engineering collaboration, architecture reviews, customer workshops, roadmap discussions, partner engagement, conferences and executive technical reviews.
Requirements
Hold a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
An equivalent depth of technical achievement may be considered if you have substantial industry experience and recognized architecture leadership.
Preferably 15+ years of professional software engineering experience for this profile.
Have at least 10 years of experience in complex software systems, AI infrastructure, compiler technology, embedded software, deployment platforms or related areas.
Have at least 5 years of proven technical leadership, architecture ownership or cross-team influence.
Have led architecture decisions that affected multiple teams, product generations, platforms or customer software ecosystems.
Have worked in globally distributed engineering environments.
Speak and write fluent English.
Other languages such as Japanese, German or French are beneficial but not mandatory.
Be experienced in large-scale software architecture and platform evolution.
Know AI model deployment workflows and AI software toolchains.
Know compiler ecosystems such as LLVM, MLIR, IREE, XLA, TVM, OpenXLA or comparable technologies.
Program in C++ and Python.
Work with AI frameworks and model formats such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX and TFLite.
Have experience with runtime integration, performance engineering, profiling, memory optimization and latency/throughput analysis.
Understand embedded and edge environments, including limits on memory, power, performance and deployment workflow.
Understand heterogeneous hardware architectures that include CPU, MCU, MPU, NPU, DSP, GPU and accelerator-based systems.
Preferred: experience with customer-facing technical leadership, strategic workshops or partner ecosystem discussions.
Preferred: experience mentoring senior engineers, technical leads or future architects.
Preferred: contributions to compiler, AI deployment, runtime, embedded software or open-source ecosystems.
Advantageous but not required: patents, publications or recognized technical contributions, if strong architecture ownership is shown.
The ideal candidate is a proven software architecture leader with deep AI deployment knowledge and strong compiler understanding, and is a systems thinker who can connect software platforms, model translation, compiler ecosystems, runtime behavior, hardware constraints, customer needs and long-term product strategy.
Conditions
Up to 30% international travel may be required.
The company is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer and does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, military status, veteran status or any other legally protected basis.
