Description

You will join the Architecture Energy Modeling Team and work with architects, ASIC design, low power, performance, software, and physical design engineers. The team studies and builds energy models for the company's next generation GPUs, CPUs, and Tegra SoCs, looking at energy use in graphics and AI workloads to guide changes to architecture, design, and power management.

The company is applying AI to define the next era of computing, where GPUs power computers, robots, and self-driving cars that understand the world. The team is made up of people with strong ideas who are given room to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Define and build tools and methods that generate data efficiently from post-layout netlists for a data movement power analytical model.
  • Build tools and infrastructure that clean up each metric in the model so it correlates closely with measured results.
  • Define and build methods that connect power models to performance tools efficiently.
  • Find runtime and memory bottlenecks in current flows and tools, and reduce them to speed up model delivery.
  • Analyze pre- and post-silicon performance runs to locate key data paths and bottlenecks, then give feedback to design teams to improve power efficiency.
  • Work with floorplan, performance, verification, emulation methodology, and infrastructure teams to bring data movement power models into their flows.
  • Apply machine learning methods to what-if design questions and to setting power and energy targets for next generation chips.
  • Build ways to store and retrieve data from a database efficiently.
  • Make data easy to visualize using tools such as PowerBI and OpenSearch.

Requirements

  • You are pursuing or have recently completed an MS or PhD in electrical or computer engineering, or have equivalent experience.
  • You write strong code, preferably in Python and C++.
  • You can develop and analyze algorithms and explain their runtime and memory complexity.
  • You understand VLSI, digital design, and computer architecture.
  • You have a basic grasp of power and energy consumption, estimation, and low power design.
  • You have a basic understanding of the chip design process from RTL design through tape-out.
  • Experience with machine learning, AI, or statistical modeling is a plus.
  • You want to use quantitative analysis to improve the energy efficiency of the company's products.
  • The company wants people who are creative, self-directed, and eager to take on hard problems.

Conditions

Base salary depends on location, experience, and other objective job-related factors. The expected base salary is 116,000 USD to 189,750 USD for Level 2, and 136,000 USD to 218,500 USD for Level 3.
