Description

Helps make microchips smaller, faster and more energy-efficient.

Around 80 percent of the world's microchips are made with the employer's technology. These chips sit at the core of electronically controlled devices such as phones, smart homes and smart factories. The company leads in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, supplying high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions that let chipmakers keep shrinking and strengthening chips while cutting their power use.

You will turn optical design algorithms into stable, high-performance products for adaptive lithography optics systems. You will work in an interdisciplinary team alongside experienced specialists in optics, mechatronics and embedded software.

Responsibilities

  • Improve the company's in-house algorithms for designing adaptive lithography optics systems.
  • Understand optical design concepts and mostly Python-based algorithms.
  • Port algorithms to C++ with an experienced internal optics team.
  • Take the resulting solutions to series readiness inside customer systems.
  • Integrate increasingly complex optical subcomponent functions into product control systems.
  • Analyze how the complete optical system behaves.
  • Build algorithms and product software that convert the intended optical behavior into specifications for mechatronic systems that control adaptive optics.
  • Work with experienced colleagues in optics, mechatronics and embedded software.

Requirements

  • Completed university degree in physics, applied computer science, data science or a related field. A doctorate is welcome.
  • Strong grasp of geometric optics and experience writing efficient algorithms for optimizing optical systems.
  • Familiarity with adaptive optics, Zernike polynomials and wavefronts.
  • Experience with efficient numerical libraries such as BLAS or LAPACK.
  • Proficiency in NumPy, SciPy, PyTorch and Jupyter Notebook.
  • Experience building more complex software in C or C++.
  • Experience with Julia or ONNX is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to structure and clearly document complex topics.
  • German and English at least at B2 level.
