Description

The Space Sector team is hiring an On-Orbit Execution & Planning Engineer at Level 3 or Level 4, based in Colorado Springs, CO.

You would join the Execution Planning Team, which works with government customers and operators to demonstrate and build plans that make capabilities more effective.

You will coordinate closely with the On-Orbit Test Team, the Systems Engineering and Integration IPT lead, and the nominal and campaign operations teams to plan activities, deconflict them and lower execution risk.

The role requires a basic working knowledge of dynamic satellite operations and rendezvous proximity operations (RPO), and experience running missions on orbit is a plus.

The position requires an SCI clearance and involves no travel.

Responsibilities

  • Propose technical solutions that help the Mission Execution Planning Team reach its end state as priorities and objectives shift, supporting system effectiveness evaluations.
  • Help design, plan and carry out mission-enabling risk reduction work with customers and the end user community.
  • Support the design, planning and execution of activities within the end user community.
  • Build and run simulations of risk reduction activities, then produce reports and assessments that support on-orbit execution.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on space vehicle hardware configuration and trajectory flight safety, contributing to activity readiness reviews and recommendations.
  • Assess system effectiveness across constellation design, space vehicle and ground system capability, and enterprise integration.
  • Run system-of-system trades, modeling, simulation and analysis to compare space mission architectures that deliver a customer mission effect, data or capability within a wider campaign.

Requirements

  • Level 3: bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience, master's degree with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year.
  • Level 3: an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at the time of application.
  • Level 3: a basic understanding of RPO and of designing dynamic satellite trajectories around constraints, restraints and objectives.
  • Level 3: experience operating satellite systems in a dynamic environment.
  • Level 4: bachelor's degree with 8 years of professional experience, master's degree with 6 years, or PhD with 4 years.
  • Level 4: an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at the time of application.
  • Level 4: a basic understanding of RPO and of designing dynamic satellite trajectories around constraints, restraints and objectives.
  • Level 4: experience operating satellite systems in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred: experience with RPO missions and their underlying algorithms, including operations and planning knowledge.
  • Preferred: prior aerospace work for a U.S. Government agency or contractor.
  • Preferred: previous work with flight hardware on operational systems.
  • Preferred: experience with scripting languages and modeling tools such as STK, Freeflyer, Python and STOL.

Conditions

Work is 100% onsite in Colorado Springs, CO, with no telecommuting.

The schedule is 9/80, with alternate Fridays off.

Relocation assistance may be available.

An SCI clearance is required to start. The position depends on obtaining final clearances and program access within a reasonable period set by the company.

Base pay ranges are $103,600.00 to $155,400.00 at the Primary level and $129,300.00 to $193,900.00 at the Secondary level. These are general guidelines; the company weighs scope and responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions when setting offers.

The application window is estimated at 20 days from the posting date, but it may be shortened or extended based on business needs and candidate availability.
