Network Security Engineer

Description

This is a full-time Network Security Engineer role in the company's Information Technology category, supporting national security missions.

You will help manage networks from initial design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrades, which includes reviewing designs, specifications, and related documents.

The work involves building communication systems that support distributed functions in a software engineering environment.

You will study network behavior such as traffic, connection times, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput, then troubleshoot issues and recommend purchases or changes to network components.

The team works around the clock, and each team follows a rotating shift pattern set by its assignment.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and support many kinds of network devices, interfaces, and methods
• Improve performance across end-to-end systems and manage dataflow
• Set up and tune the network so front-end and back-end components connect properly
• Work with the system engineering and dataflow efforts to keep missions running with minimal downtime
• Help build high-speed, scalable, fault-tolerant WAN and LAN topologies
• Put in place load balancing, VPNs, firewall contexts, and network address translation (NAT) where a server needs them
• Reduce network latency and increase data throughput using design analysis and performance monitoring tools
• Deploy and install hardware inside and outside the continental United States
• Lead large efforts with changing requirements and significant scale
• Define requirements with system engineers and teams across the organization
• Solve complex network problems using network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators

Requirements

• IAT Level 3 certification
• Twelve (12) years of experience on programs and contracts with similar scope, type, and complexity
• A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university. Four (4) additional years of network engineering experience may replace the degree.
• Five (5) years of experience with WhatsUp Gold and NetFlow
• Five (5) years of experience with SIGNIT tools: Common View/Max View, Triton, and TUMMS
• TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required

Conditions

Full-time, regular position with no required travel. Any travel is within the continental US.

Shifts rotate on a Panama schedule: mid shift (M) 6PM to 6AM, day shift (D) 6AM to 6PM, straight shift (S) 8AM to 5PM, and break (B) for days off.

The proposed salary range is $120,800 to $265,800. Final pay depends on location, federal labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant experience, specific skills, education, and certifications.
