Network & Security Engineer

Description

The role sits within the military aircraft weapon systems unit of the company's Madrid-area operations and is linked to a Technical Assistance Contract.

The CLAEX support team in engineering mainly delivers avionics upgrades for the Spanish Air Force combat fleet, which needs rigs, software tools, facilities and networks that meet a set security level.

Your work covers two areas: networks and security, and maintenance of rigs and laboratories.

The position is based at the Spanish Air Force National Support Center (CLAEX) at Torrejón Air Base.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure and administer local area networks, including switches, routers, VLANs and STP, and private networks, including IPSec VPNs, SSL/TLS and secure tunnels.
• Put CCN-STIC security measures in place and keep them running, focusing on network infrastructure security, communications protection, segmentation and access control.
• Make sure medium- and high-category information systems comply with the National Security Framework (ENS).
• Harden network equipment, monitor traffic, manage firewalls and detect threats.
• Take part in network segmentation projects, secure remote access and CCN-STIC audits.
• Give advanced technical support and work with cybersecurity teams.
• Help maintain the Test Support System installed in the laboratories and rigs.

Requirements

• Hold a university degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunication, Aeronautical Engineering or Cybersecurity.
• Have at least 3 years of experience administering and securing local and private networks.
• Have solid knowledge of CCN-STIC guidelines and apply them in practice.
• Show demonstrable experience working in environments regulated by the National Security Framework (ENS).
• Meet the requirements to obtain HPS NATO (Secret) and national Spanish security clearance.
• Be aware of compliance risks and act with integrity.
• Valued: CCN-CERT STIC courses, CCNA, CCNP Security or other network and security certifications.
• Additional asset: experience in public administration or in entities that handle sensitive information.
• Additional asset: proficiency with Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks and enterprise VPN tools.
• Additional asset: ability to analyse risks and write technical documentation under the ENS.
• Additional asset: experience with Test Support Systems, especially MaTE for the EF-2000 platform, which will be valued.
• Desirable: intermediate to advanced technical English.

Conditions

Permanent contract.

Hybrid working where possible, with about 40% remote work.

Based at Torrejón Air Base, Madrid area.
