Description

The company keeps expanding its network to improve how people, businesses and devices connect.

The network operations team runs 24x7 and handles troubleshooting, configuration changes and issue resolution.

This is a hybrid role, 40 scheduled hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Optimise, troubleshoot and maintain network systems and applications to track overall availability and performance.
  • Assess network coverage, find gaps, recommend fixes and help put them in place.
  • Triage, isolate faults in and remediate network events.
  • Open and update problem-tracking tickets across several systems, and keep improving working practices.
  • Escalate issues to the right internal or external engineering teams.
  • Handle network transformation work, outages and service issues, and support the wider operations environment.

Requirements

  • An associate's degree or 2+ years of work experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, from work and/or military service.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts that include weekends and holidays.
  • Hands-on work at the packet-optical boundary: OTN tributary mapping (ODU0/ODU2/ODU4), coherent DWDM transport (100G/400G), and IP/MPLS services carried over optical infrastructure.
  • Experience finding cross-layer faults, tracing packet-layer symptoms back to physical-layer causes, and coordinating restoration across optical and IP domains.
  • Understanding of how optical circuit faults affect packet-layer services, including recognising IP-layer symptoms such as BGP session drops and traffic reroutes caused by DWDM or OTN impairments, and communicating clearly with operations teams during joint troubleshooting.
  • Even better if you have:
  • A technical degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related field.
  • Knowledge of telecom equipment and technologies such as telephony switching, data communications and network routers.
  • Experience with vendor platforms built for converged packet-optical architectures.
  • Computer support experience, including PC hardware and configuration troubleshooting.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • You are encouraged to apply even if you do not meet every 'even better' item.

Conditions

The role is hybrid: a defined work location that includes home working, plus at least three days per week in the office, set by your manager.

You are responsible for following the hybrid work policies.

The salary depends on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. The role is incentive based, with potential to earn more. Part-time pay is adjusted to your hours.

Benefits

  • Health and wellness options: medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, basic and supplemental life insurance, AD&D insurance, identity theft protection, pet insurance, and group home and auto insurance.
  • A matched 401(k) savings plan.
  • Up to 8 company paid holidays and up to 6 personal days per year.
  • Paid parental leave, adoption assistance and tuition assistance.
  • Up to 15 days of vacation per year for new hires, increasing with service.
  • Possible premium pay such as overtime, shift differential, holiday pay and allowances, depending on the role.
  • Part-timers may be eligible for some of these benefits depending on their circumstances.
