Description

The Department of Social Services combines the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration and the Department of Homeless Services.

The Human Resources Administration works to reduce poverty and income inequality by giving New Yorkers in need core benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance.

The Department of Homeless Services works to prevent and end homelessness in New York City through a range of new approaches that help families and individuals leave shelter and become self-sufficient as fast as possible.

The Information Technology Services group is the technology arm of the department. It keeps both agencies running day to day, handles urgent issues, and plans for the long term. The group builds and improves the infrastructure and applications behind eligibility and recertification, case management, housing, employment engagement, revenue matching, claims, and personnel systems.

The group is hiring one IT Project Specialist to work as a Middleware Developer.

  • Identify technical tasks, delivery timelines, and project risks with the project team.
  • Give technical help to middleware application end users, and open and document trouble tickets in the agency's IT service management system.
