MES Engineer

Description

The MES engineering team supports projects across the Fiberon facilities, working with engineers, managers, supervisors and operators to improve manufacturing through MES applications and hardware. The work supports a continuous improvement culture.

Relocation assistance is provided for this position.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day MES issues, working with other team members as needed.
• Design front end applications for MES using Ignition software.
• Define, design and lead software implementations across manufacturing operations.
• Help align common manufacturing execution requirements and shop floor processes across several business units and sites.
• Turn business and operational needs into clear, detailed functional specifications for MES solutions.
• Act as the subject matter expert on MES functions such as production execution, routing, work instructions, data collection, quality and traceability.
• Support system testing, including unit, integration, user acceptance (UAT) and pre-production validation.
• Work with cross-functional teams on site deployment, change management, training and MES adoption.
• Find chances to standardize processes, automate work and improve manufacturing performance through MES.
• Explain complex technical concepts and system capabilities clearly to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
• Prepare and present project updates, risks and recommendations to functional and leadership audiences.
• Support continuous improvement and post-deployment enhancements so MES solutions keep up with changing business needs.
• Review existing software code and improve it.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of software development experience.
• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer/Software Engineering.
• A working understanding of computer programming and application development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well in cross-functional, collaborative teams.
• Proven project management skills, including meeting timelines and keeping stakeholders informed.
• Knowledge of Windows-based systems and the MS Office Suite.
• Experience with Python, Microsoft SQL databases, HTML, Java and Expression languages is essential.
• Experience putting software applications into production.
• Comfortable being the go-to person for daily software support.
• Meticulous, conscientious, analytical and focused, and able to work independently.
• Nice to have: knowledge of PLCs, programming, tag structure and data collection.
• Nice to have: knowledge of SCADA and MES software such as Ignition.
• Nice to have: knowledge of ERP functionality, bills of materials (BOMs), part or product configuration, and production scheduling or sequencing.
• Nice to have: knowledge of Oracle Cloud Fusion ERP.

Conditions

Base salary range: $80,000 USD to $124,000 USD. Actual pay may fall above or below this range depending on education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need and location.

Employees also take part in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance or a role-based sales incentive plan.
