Description

The company is an AI marketing platform used by 15% of the Fortune 500, including Comcast, Estée Lauder, Walmart, Ramp, MongoDB and Figma. Marketing teams use it to handle research, briefs, content, campaigns and reporting in one place, with agents doing much of the work.

The platform draws on over 2B real user prompts and the model responses to them. Its AI Marketer combines that data with customer context to surface worthwhile opportunities, then runs agents for tasks such as reporting, drafting content, page readability audits and competitive research. The system measures results and improves daily.

The company is hiring an Engineering Manager in New York City to lead the team that builds the triggers which start agent work, reliable automation and workflow execution, and collaborative tools for creating, organizing and coordinating work.

You will report to the Head of Engineering and manage 8 to 12 engineers. Your main focus is people management, coaching, hiring, performance and delivery. The technical lead sets technical direction. You need strong production Rust skills so you can coach engineers, weigh technical tradeoffs and work as an informed partner to the technical lead.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and grow a strong engineering team. Set clear expectations, give direct feedback and build a culture of ownership, trust and accountability.
  • Plan and deliver work with product and the technical lead. Make priorities, capacity and dependencies visible, and break broad goals into achievable milestones.
  • Coach engineers through one-on-ones, career development and performance conversations. Learn what each person needs to grow and help them do their best work.
  • Work closely with the technical lead, who owns architecture and direction. Make sure the team has the context, capacity and support to execute, and use your Rust background to ask informed questions and assess risk.
  • Spot delivery risks early, clear organizational blockers and manage cross-team dependencies. Communicate progress and changes promptly so surprises do not pile up.
  • Set up sustainable practices for on-call, incidents and support. Balance operational load with planned delivery, protect team health and ensure improvement work has an owner and time allocated.
  • Coordinate with product and partner teams, including the team building the agent harness, to align priorities and handoffs across agent execution, automations and collaborative tools.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering.
  • Strong production Rust skills, including having shipped and operated Rust systems, enough to coach engineers, judge technical tradeoffs and support the technical lead.
  • Direct engineering management experience covering hiring, coaching, performance management and delivery accountability, with examples of helping engineers grow and teams improve.
  • Experience building and running complex backend or platform systems, and an understanding of the failure modes that appear as usage and complexity grow.
  • Earn the trust of senior engineers and technical leads through clear expectations, sound judgment and follow-through. Delegate technical ownership while staying informed and supportive.
  • Balance team health, delivery commitments and technical investment, making capacity and priority decisions explicit.
  • Communicate clearly with engineering, product and other partners, especially when requirements are unclear or priorities shift.
  • Experience with workflow engines, durable execution, scheduling or event-driven systems.
  • Experience building collaborative documents, spreadsheets, file or artifact systems, project workspaces or calendar products.
  • Experience building products where people and agents work together.
  • Experience growing an engineering team while keeping technical quality and clear ownership.
