Description

The company has been building graphics, PC gaming and accelerated computing technology for over 25 years, and now applies AI to a new generation of computers, robots and self-driving cars that can perceive their surroundings.

The company BioNeMo is developing the computing base for the next wave of biological research. The team sought is a hands-on technical manager for the MD Simulation Engineering group, which builds biological simulation engines that scale.

You will manage a group of engineers writing GPU-native simulation software that the scientific community relies on. The job is part individual contributor and part mentor: you stay close to the code, guide architecture decisions, own the roadmap, coordinate dependencies with internal and external partners, and help the team grow.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, hire and develop software engineers in a collaborative unit, fostering ownership, engineering quality and direct work with researchers and recognized experts in the field.
  • Set the vision, strategy and roadmap for the division's GPU-accelerated simulation software.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for delivery across several workstreams, aligning partners, managing cross-team dependencies and keeping execution predictable.
  • Work with Applied Science teams to turn research prototypes into production-quality software that has been benchmarked.
  • Build and maintain ties with the molecular dynamics modeling community so the team builds what that community needs.
  • Push engineering work to completion, covering code quality, CI/CD, validation across multiple SKUs and documentation standards.
  • Communicate progress, risks and decisions clearly.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of software engineering experience overall, including 3+ years responsible for an engineering team with direct reports.
  • Deep grounding in GPU computing and high-performance scientific software, enough to review builds, shape architecture and keep a high engineering bar across the team's work.
  • Experience shipping production GPU libraries, scientific computing software or developer-facing APIs, with an understanding of moving from prototype to a product external developers depend on.
  • Working knowledge of molecular dynamics concepts such as force fields, electrostatics, neighbor lists and periodic boundary conditions, enough to hold credible conversations with colleagues and the MD simulation community.
  • A track record of leading work that spans multiple functions, influencing peers who do not report to you, and explaining technical progress clearly to senior leaders.
  • A BS or MS in Computer Science, Computational Science, Physics, Chemistry or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Conditions

Base salary depends on location, experience and other objective job-related factors. The expected base salary range is 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD.

Applications will be accepted at least until November 3, 2026.
