Description

The company is a global biopharma business that makes vaccines, specialty medicines and general medicines, with a target of £40 billion in annual sales by 2031.

The role leads digital and technology solution architecture for the Global Supply Chain capital projects portfolio, with main focus on the Upper Merion Flex Factory.

You will guide architecture from concept and feasibility through design, delivery and handover to operations, so that investments are secure, resilient, compliant, composable and ready for the future.

You will be the architecture design authority across manufacturing, engineering, quality, automation, data, cloud, cybersecurity and enterprise platforms.

You will align project teams, GSC Digital & Technology, enterprise functions and external partners on one integrated architecture that meets near-term programme goals and builds reusable, scalable capabilities for the wider manufacturing network.

Responsibilities

  • Own solution architecture end to end for the capital projects portfolio, including the Flex Factory.
  • Turn business, engineering and site needs into current-state, transition-state and target-state architectures.
  • Design integrated solutions spanning manufacturing, engineering, quality, automation, data, cloud and enterprise platforms.
  • Apply composable architecture principles to encourage reuse and interoperability and to prevent siloed or duplicate technology.
  • Serve as architecture design authority at programme stage gates, giving clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Manage architecture dependencies, decisions and risks across sites, domains and suppliers.
  • Build solution options and give cost, value, risk and feasibility input to investment decisions.
  • Flag architecture exceptions and escalate material decisions through the right GSC architecture governance forums.
  • Maintain architecture artefacts, roadmaps and decision records for the capital portfolio.
  • Represent GSC Architecture with programme leaders, engineering, sites, suppliers and enterprise functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, information technology, computer science or industrial engineering.
  • 8+ years in architecture, engineering technology, manufacturing technology or a related field.
  • Experience leading architecture for large, complex capital programmes or site transformations.
  • Experience integrating manufacturing, automation, engineering, quality, cloud, data and enterprise platforms.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment with global, cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • TOGAF or an equivalent architecture certification is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of solution architecture, manufacturing systems, operational technology, cloud and systems integration is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity, resilience, data architecture and regulated-system delivery is preferred.
  • Ability to develop architecture options, explain trade-offs and influence senior business and technology stakeholders is preferred.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, negotiation and supplier-management skills are preferred.
  • Ability to work well across global teams, cultures, functions and sites is preferred.
  • Skills or experience in API management, application development, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud architectures, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data architecture development, database management systems (DBMS), DevOps, microservices architecture, network architecture, security architecture design, service-oriented architecture (SOA), software engineering, system integration and technical solution architecture.
