Description

The Sensors Division at the company builds technology for advanced sensors, including airborne and surface radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing.

The division works on full system prototypes, experiment campaigns, and individual technology components. Its development roles cover RF analog and digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing and machine learning algorithms, tracking and fusion, and real-time embedded processor work.

The Real-time Architectures, Integration and Demonstration (RAID) Group takes algorithms from concept to real-time software, supplies open architecture expertise, and helps integrate capabilities for experiments, testing, and deployment.

The group is hiring a Lead Systems Engineer with proven Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) skills. You will help design, build, test, and maintain real-time software that controls complex hardware, following open architecture standards. Working in focused teams, you will turn internal software into production-quality code that outside integrators can run on their embedded and distributed computing platforms. You will also set best practices and automated processes with software and systems engineers, pushing MBSE further into Agile development.

The ideal candidate has worked on teams that built large, high-performance C/C++ software for sensor systems and understands how MBSE fits with real-time systems built through Agile. Experience with open architecture frameworks and standards is highly desired. Strong technical, interpersonal, and communication skills are needed for collaborative, multi-disciplinary teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, model, build, test, and document large software and hardware systems with principal investigators, software engineers, and other systems engineers.
  • Connect MBSE artifacts to software pipelines, including code and test generation and large-scale code analysis, working with software and systems engineers.
  • Work with software and systems engineers to fold MBSE processes into software development to make it faster.
  • Extract, manage, and analyze requirements for RF sensor signal processing or similar systems.
  • Write or help write documentation for system and software designs, APIs, implementation details, and technical reports.
  • Run peer reviews and recommend next steps for technical work.
  • Travel about 5% of the time for integration events, customer meetings, and field demonstrations.

Requirements

  • Able to obtain and keep a Secret or Top Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. government for this.
  • PhD plus 2 years, MS plus 5 years, or BS plus 7 years in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with MBSE on medium to large agile software programs.
  • Strong skill with CAMEO or other Model Based Systems Engineering tools.
  • Experience working on professional software development teams.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Preferred: an active Secret or Top Secret clearance, strongly preferred because clearance processing takes time.
  • Preferred: experience building products or toolkits that third parties integrate with varied hardware and software subsystems.
  • Preferred: experience automating the integration of CAMEO or other MBSE tools with Agile development.
  • Preferred: experience with signal processing development teams.
  • Preferred: experience with open architecture standards and frameworks.
  • Preferred: experience with Git and collaborative development practices.
  • Preferred: experience developing CAMEO plugins.
  • Preferred: understanding of RF sensor system concepts.
  • Preferred: familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps, and with integrating MBSE into them.
  • Preferred: prior work on proposal development and technical writing.

Conditions

Full-time salary range: $174,000.00 to $225,000.00, based on external market data.

Offers depend on factors such as experience, education, training, key and critical skills, security clearances, and current market and business conditions.
