Lead Data Technical Architect

Description

The company designs and delivers data solutions for its customers, including digital services and Workday work.

You will design and deliver technical components that fit into a larger data solution, working alongside Solution Architects and Customer Architects.

The team is people-focused and collaborative, and encourages new ideas and growth.

Responsibilities

• Implement functional and non-functional designs successfully.
• Agree functional and non-functional designs with customer architects, covering estimated effort, technical impact and complexity.
• Set technical standards and work with engineers to make sure they are followed.
• Manage and estimate the timelines for delivering technical components.
• Contribute to or own technical solution design as part of pre-sales work.
• Contribute significantly to the data analysis community and the wider data and analytics capability.
• Manage, coach and develop a small number of staff, focusing on their performance and career growth, and lead them as they solve hard problems together.

Requirements

• Have owned a technical component, sub-system or product in areas such as data ingestion or data streaming, including architecture, estimation, product planning and story creation.
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to non-technical audiences during client interactions.
• Apply design patterns, development style guides, and operational readiness practices such as automation and deployment.
• Have designed, built and productionised modern, distributed, data-intensive applications.
• Work in Java, Scala or Python, comfortable with functional and object-oriented paradigms.
• Have deployed modern data stores such as object stores, document stores, key-value stores, search engines, RDBMS and graph databases.
• Have developed software on data-processing platforms from vendors such as AWS, Azure, GCP or Databricks.
• Be comfortable with data integration methods such as messaging, queuing, change data capture or data virtualisation.
• Desirable: Comfortable with data warehouse methods and techniques.
• Desirable: Shares your views on data practices openly.
• Desirable: Holds an AWS, Azure or GCP certification in data services.
• Desirable: Brings expertise in continuous improvement and contributes input on data best practice.
• Desirable: Takes part in development or technology communities.
