Java/SQL Developer - Assistant Vice President

The role is a software engineer position in Applications Development on the Cross Functional Reference Data Foundation platform in the Prime Services area. You will help build and improve this platform and keep the current version stable.

The position calls for 5-8 years of progressive experience in systems analysis and hands-on programming, with a record of delivering software projects. The work centres on Java and SQL distributed application development and agile delivery, in a fast-paced global setting.

Responsibilities

• Build, extend and maintain Java applications following Test-Driven Development, using the Spring framework and a Microservices architecture.
• Analyse systems and write code that keeps applications fast and reliable.
• Work with global development teams, business stakeholders and other technical teams to gather requirements, design solutions and deliver integrated projects.
• Improve and maintain existing platforms so they stay stable and can scale.
• Take part in every stage of the software lifecycle, from concept and design through testing and deployment, using agile practices.
• Use strong SQL and Stored Procedures skills to interact with databases and manage data.
• Run and troubleshoot applications on Linux.
• Adjust quickly to changing technical needs and priorities while handling several deadlines.
• Keep learning and work well with others.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of progressive experience in systems analysis and software application programming.
• A track record of taking software projects from inception to completion.
• Strong Java application development skills with hands-on coding.
• Deep experience with Test-Driven Development.
• Expertise in the Spring framework and Microservices architecture.
• Solid, hands-on experience with SQL and Stored Procedures.
• Proficiency in Linux.
• Experience with MS SQL Server.
• Working knowledge of project management techniques, with a strong focus on agile methods.
• Experience with a messaging system such as Kafka is an advantage.
• Experience with a caching product such as Redis or Gemfire is an advantage.
• Experience with React, other modern web technologies and web best practices is an advantage.
• Understanding of HTML5 and CSS is an advantage.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation (e.g., Docker) and Kubernetes is an advantage.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting, manage several deadlines and adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with global teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies, including AI tools, and to help maintain and improve the current platform.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.

Conditions

Hybrid working model with up to 2 days a week working from home, in a business casual workplace.

Full-time role based in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States.

Base salary of $121,200.00 to $181,800.00, reviewed annually.
