IT Software Engineer

Description

The company makes memory and storage products, and this role supports its software work.

You will set up, build, test, maintain and support software, including both in-house and third-party applications.

You will write and review software specifications and cover the full development cycle: research, design, documentation, changes, testing and support.

You will move between development technologies and combine them to build the best solution.

You are expected to build high-quality software and help improve quality across the team.

Your work should create business value while keeping defects, downtime and slowdowns to a minimum.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate automation tooling and host enhancements with automation developers and domain experts so projects finish on schedule
• Collect, rank and document requirements for new automation systems and upgrades across 300mm fabs worldwide
• Test and support manufacturing and automation software releases, including upgrades and resiliency work
• Troubleshoot and fix automation and software problems as part of daily support, including a 24x7 on-call rotation
• Keep user documentation current and report project status to management on a regular basis

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, plus 5+ years of enterprise software development experience
• Hands-on work with object-oriented programming, the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum
• Experience using artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies
• Software testing experience in a manufacturing or automation setting
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to juggle several priorities well
• Preferred: experience supporting or integrating automation systems in semiconductor or manufacturing environments
• Preferred: knowledge of software architecture, system integration and automation tool frameworks
• Preferred: experience writing user documentation and training materials for software releases
• Preferred: a track record of resolving complex software and automation issues across several systems
• Preferred: experience running global or multi-site operations with standardized reporting and metrics

Conditions

The on-call rotation runs 24x7 and is part of the daily support duties.
