Description

The company is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer for its Intelligent Operations group, based in the Warsaw downtown office.

You will run and improve the in-house observability and event management platforms as a hands-on SRE covering the Europe region.

Your time is split between operational work, capped at 50%, and engineering work, at least 50%. The engineering side keeps the system reliable, cuts cost, meets compliance and security needs, and builds new features for the business.

You will sit in a three-person SRE team in Warsaw and report to the SRE Leader. That team belongs to a larger engineering group that also includes two other regional SRE teams, covering Asia and the Americas, and a Core Platform Engineering team based in Europe.

Day to day, you will work with engineers across the group and with product managers, product owners and activation leads from the Observability and Event Management product teams.

Success in the role comes down to five areas: operational support for Europe, reliability, cost visibility and optimization, self-service tools that users adopt, and system enhancements built with the engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support for the Europe region, covering incidents, client onboarding and customer requests, and resolve them on time within the agreed SLIs, SLOs and SLAs.
  • Keep improving SLOs and SLIs.
  • Shorten Mean Time to Restore Service and Mean Time to Resolve Requests.
  • Build self-observability and self-healing features using strong modern tools and technologies.
  • Design, maintain and test business continuity and disaster recovery processes on a regular schedule.
  • Carry out changes, upgrades and routine maintenance on existing systems, keeping them stable and performing well.
  • Turn what you learn from customer requests and onboarding work into proposals for automation, new capabilities and process changes that expand self-service.
  • Widen the set of self-service capabilities and get the user community to use them.
  • Automate the onboarding of new projects and plants onto the platform.
  • Work with product and engineering teams to shape the roadmap, feed input into product increments and line up sprints with operational needs.
  • Design and build selected user stories from the product backlog.

Requirements

  • Broad working knowledge of IT, from operating systems through network infrastructure to cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience running and troubleshooting workloads in Kubernetes.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills.
  • Working familiarity with GitHub.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, ideally Azure, and with provisioning infrastructure.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Thanos or Grafana is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills, so you can manage your own work effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and find sound solutions.
  • Clear real-time communication during incidents, and the ability to explain technical problems to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a habit of learning and keeping up with industry trends.
  • Ability to stay effective under pressure, manage incidents well and keep downtime to a minimum.
  • The team is open to candidates with a solid foundation who are still building some of the skills and eager to learn on the job.
