Description

The role sits in the Molecular Work Area portfolio and covers global strategy for the platforms used in modern molecular diagnostics, including the wider PCR Systems portfolio.

You report to the International Business Leader and help shape the direction of these market-leading systems while keeping the company's position in the market strong.

The job suits someone who enjoys working across countries and disciplines with diverse global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run the global product strategy for the Molecular Work Area portfolio, keeping it on track for long-term market leadership and in line with the wider Molecular Work Area vision.
  • Work with R&D, Global Customer Support and Operations across the full product lifecycle, from new features and on-market support to long-range planning.
  • Collect customer and business requirements from affiliates, key customers and other Lifecycle Teams, then turn them into strong business cases and product features that set the systems apart.
  • Be the product champion and main contact for regional and affiliate partners, making sure they have the tools, training and support to sell successfully.
  • Sit on the Product Care & Quality Team (PCQT) and help set priorities for, and resolve, on-market issues so customers stay satisfied and product quality holds.
  • Set the portfolio's strategic marketing direction with the Global Marketing Manager(s), defining positioning, messaging and launch plans for a competitive market. You own the competitive analysis and turn its findings into countermeasures and high-impact campaigns.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering or business field. An MBA is preferred.
  • More than 5 years of product management, marketing or related commercial work in medical diagnostics or devices.
  • Fluent English.
  • A proven record of setting priorities and making strategic trade-offs, and of communicating clearly with diverse global stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and influencing skills, plus experience in multidisciplinary teams within a global matrix organisation, building strategy and presenting a clear investment case.
  • Hands-on experience with the cobas 5800, 6800 or 8800 systems, or other automated molecular diagnostic platforms.
  • A solid grasp of IVD instrument hardware and software and of laboratory workflows, including LIS and middleware integration.
  • Global experience, such as a global role or direct work with several country affiliates or business units.
  • A working understanding of design control for developing regulated medical devices.
