Description

The role is for a Game Mathematician in the iGaming (Playradar) division of a sports technology company that works with sports federations, media outlets, betting operators and consumer platforms in 120 countries.

The division builds casino games, including virtual sports, live betting products, 24/7 experiences and other sports-inspired gaming concepts, and the Casino Games portfolio is growing fast.

The job suits someone who can work on clearly defined game math problems alone and who will work closely with Product, Game Design, Engineering and Compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mathematical models for RNG-based casino games such as slots, instant-win, crash-style, plinko-style, roulette-inspired and number games.
  • Build, test and document probability models, payout structures, volatility profiles, RTP configurations and game simulations for product development and certification readiness.
  • Work with Product Managers and Game Designers to turn game concepts into sound mechanics that balance engagement, commercial goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Run simulations and check results against expected probability distributions, hit frequency, variance, maximum exposure and target RTP.
  • Write mathematical specifications and supporting documents for Engineering, QA, Compliance and external certification partners.
  • Work with Engineering and QA so game math is implemented, tested and verified correctly in production games.
  • Review game and player data after launch and recommend changes to mechanics, balancing, volatility, retention and monetization.
  • Help shape the Casino Games roadmap by spotting mathematical opportunities for new mechanics, distinct game experiences and reusable game templates.
  • Own assigned game math workstreams, solve defined but complex problems independently, and raise risks with clear recommendations.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in game mathematics, probability modelling, statistical analysis, data science, applied mathematics or a similar analytical role, ideally in casino gaming, iGaming, online games or digital entertainment.
  • Solid grasp of probability theory, combinatorics, statistics, simulation, variance, RTP, hit frequency and payout modelling for RNG-based games.
  • Ability to build, validate and document casino game math models with limited supervision.
  • Commercial experience designing, developing and maintaining Java applications in production.
  • Working knowledge of Python, R, SQL, Excel/VBA, MATLAB or similar tools for simulation and statistical modelling.
  • Good understanding of casino mechanics, including slots, table games, crash, instant games, plinko-style mechanics and lottery or number games, and how the maths shapes the player experience.
  • Strong analytical judgement: you can spot risks, test assumptions and explain complex mathematics to non-technical stakeholders.
  • You work well with Product, Game Design, Engineering, QA, Compliance and Commercial teams.
  • You stay effective in a fast-moving product environment where priorities change and pragmatic, high-quality solutions are needed.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, enough to write clear specifications, analysis summaries and explanations for stakeholders.
  • Experience with certification processes, regulated gaming, responsible gambling or jurisdiction-specific RTP rules is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience creating math models for certified real-money casino games is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of market-specific gaming regulations, lab certification or game math approval processes is an advantage.
  • Experience with sports-themed or branded casino games, including products that mix sports content with casino mechanics, is an advantage.
  • Interest in innovation, prototyping and building scalable mathematical frameworks for a growing casino games portfolio is an advantage.

Conditions

The role is fully office-based. Flexible working hours are offered, and exemptions may apply depending on location; your local contact can advise.

The minimum monthly salary follows the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Higher pay may be offered based on qualifications and experience.

The hiring process has four steps: a short screening call with a Talent Acquisition Partner, a take-home coding task, a technical interview covering the task, live coding and a system design discussion, and then feedback and an offer if successful.

The company welcomes applicants of all backgrounds and is an equal-opportunity employer.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and a strong benefits package.
  • Individual learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Work with talented colleagues across several teams in an international, collaborative setting.
  • Ownership of mathematical models, simulations and balancing decisions for a growing portfolio.
  • Corporate fitness activities and wellbeing programs.
