Full-stack Engineer 4 (Java, Golang, AWS)

The role sits in a fast-paced, collaborative, iterative delivery setting and drives a major transformation across the company.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of varied technology projects and a team of developers who have deep experience with distributed microservices and full stack systems, building solutions for regulatory needs.
• Stay current on technology trends, try and learn new tools, take part in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other engineers.
• Work with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that give customers powerful experiences and help millions of Americans reach financial empowerment.
• Use languages such as Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript, open source relational and NoSQL databases, container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes, and a range of AWS tools and services.
• Set technical direction for Agile teams, including standards for design, development and operational excellence.
• Work with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns and reusable frameworks.
• Find areas to improve, refactor where needed, and help reduce technical debt and raise system performance.
• Shape long-term technology strategy by evaluating new tools and practices in a 'you build it, you own it' environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics or Engineering.
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not count.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Preferred: 7+ years of coding experience with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C and Scala.
• Preferred: 3+ years working with databases and database management systems.
• Preferred: 3+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies.
• Preferred: 4+ years contributing to open source frameworks.
• Preferred: 3+ years with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
• Preferred: 4+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
• Preferred: 3+ years with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and automated testing frameworks.
• Preferred: 3+ years using Git-based version control such as Git, GitHub or Bitbucket.
• Preferred: 3+ years troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.
• Preferred: Experience with modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.
• Preferred: 1+ year mentoring engineers and supporting their professional development.
• Preferred: 1+ year using observability to find and fix performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
• Preferred: Experience with interactive AI tools that go beyond basic code completion to boost productivity.
• Preferred: Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts or large-scale technical initiatives.
• Preferred: Experience setting and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.

Conditions

Plano, TX base salary range is $179,400 to $204,700 per year for full-time roles; part-time pay is prorated to the agreed hours.

Pay for other locations follows that location's range, and the exact salary is stated in the offer letter.

The role may earn performance-based incentive pay, such as cash bonuses and or long-term incentives, which may be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
