Forward Deployed Engineer - UK

Description

About Reveal Technology

Founded in 2019, Reveal is a dynamic startup revolutionizing field operations by delivering software tools and intelligence to operators in remote, disconnected, and extreme environments. Reveal is the Digital Arms Room for the Modern Warrior — providing the tactical intelligence and automation platform for physical, human, and digital terrain at the edge.

Our flagship products include Farsight, a 3D processing and mission planning platform that transforms complex terrain into operational advantage, and Identifi, a secure identity verification solution designed for rapid, trusted identification in dynamic environments. In 2026, Reveal expanded its software portfolio to include Chronos and Anomaly 6, further strengthening its capabilities across the modern battlefield.

Reveal exists to serve defense, security, and public safety missions where time is compressed, information is contested, and precision matters. We are scaling our team and technology to meet the accelerating demands of modern warfare and national security.

About the Role

Reveal is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with military, security, and commercial end users to solve complex operational challenges through innovative hardware and software solutions.

In this hands-on role, you will rapidly prototype, integrate, and deploy emerging technologies while bridging the gap between frontline user needs and Reveal’s engineering teams. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering and systems integration expertise with an understanding of defense operations and the ability to thrive in demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and embed with commercial, military and security end users to identify operational challenges and deliver tailored hardware/software solutions.
• Rapidly prototype low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) platforms that can mature into Reveal product offerings.
• Act as a frontline engineer and technologist, bringing back validated user feedback and performance data to inform internal roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Reveal engineering teams rear/remotely to transition fielded prototypes into scalable, productized capabilities.
• Serve as a field-facing authority on Reveal’s technologies, including Farsight, and act as a bridge between user need and technical development.
• Lead field integration of Reveal products with adjacent systems (e.g., ATAK, Lattice, Palantir), and articulate the combined operational value.
• Manage technical deployments in austere and high-pressure environments, including the setup and sustainment of edge compute, networking, and Unmanned Aerial Systems.
• Provide technical mentorship and leadership in multi-disciplinary project teams, often spanning government and commercial partners.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in defense or dual-use innovation, ideally in forward-deployed or special operations contexts.
• Demonstrated experience leading R&D projects that fuse autonomy, data engineering, cloud computing, and operational hardware.
• Exceptional self-starter with deep familiarity in Python, Go, C++, and systems-level programming for edge hardware.
• Experience designing, consuming, and integrating with RESTful and gRPC APIs, with the ability to interface Reveal products into third-party platforms such as ATAK, Lattice, and Palantir through custom adapters and plugins.
• Operational understanding of the defense mission space, including employment of systems like ATAK, Palantir, Lattice, and Reveal Farsight.
• Proven experience delivering secure, tactical software/hardware systems in sensitive or constrained environments.
• Strong communicator able to advocate for user needs, translate technical concepts, and build consensus across stakeholders.
• Comfortable navigating sensitive environments with limited oversight - UK DV or US TS/SCI clearance (or equivalent) required.
• Familiarity with UAS systems, ML ops, cloud/edge hybrid compute, and high-trust technology deployment practices
• Willingness to travel up to 20% globally, including to field and conflict-adjacent locations.
