Field Engineering Specialist - Los Angeles, CA

The company's support network exists to serve its customers well, and this role sits in the field, working directly with laboratory customers.

The company works in healthcare, with medicines and diagnostic products used by a large global customer base.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites and apply your technical skills to repair and install the company's products in your assigned product lines.
• Give laboratory customers in your territory hands-on service.
• Provide routine technical support and carry out on-site service, repairs and installations.
• Act as the main contact for technical and service questions.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Find and fix mechanical, hardware, software and system faults.
• Record all of your work in full.
• Help improve quality and keep customers satisfied.

Requirements

• A high school diploma plus 2 years of technical school, or equivalent military training or work experience, is required.
• Alternatively, you need 5 years of progressive experience repairing or servicing mechanical or system hardware and software, or networking and wireless networking, which is necessary.
• Or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 1-2 years of progressive experience will do.
• You must complete training or certification as set by RD Services Leadership and policy.
• You must be able to travel, including overnight.
• Preferred: 8+ years of progressive experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 4+ years of progressive experience, is required.
• Preferred: Advanced knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical systems, information technology and basic chemistry.
• Preferred: You must be able to act as an internal technical resource, support customers after hours and on weekends or holidays, and build strong customer relationships, which is essential.

Conditions

This is a field-based role with daily travel and up to 30% overnight travel.

The ideal candidate lives within the service region: Orange County, Los Angeles County (Northern and Central) and Ventura County.

The expected hiring range in California is $74,600 to $138,600.

Actual pay depends on experience, qualifications, geographic location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
