Description

Grid power is shifting quickly, and the control software behind it has to keep up. This is the Engineering Manager role for Control Software in the company's Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) business.

The company's Grid Solutions business builds reactive power compensators, including Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC).

Finland is the company's global Centre of Excellence for this technology. The systems regulate voltage and reactive power, strengthen stability and raise transmission efficiency, which helps customers worldwide cut energy waste and keep supply steady.

The role suits someone who wants to grow both a team and a technology, and who sees leadership as a way to multiply impact.

Responsibilities

  • Own software delivery across the project lifecycle, from tender evaluation through detailed design to on-site commissioning.
  • Lead and grow the Control Software team: manage people day to day, mentor engineers, take part in hiring, and build a resource pool that matches project demand.
  • Plan and run Control Software work for tenders and live projects so delivery meets demanding customer specifications.
  • Check resource needs and work estimates across your portfolio, and close gaps early.
  • Push a first-time-right approach and find ways to improve engineering processes.
  • Define and track KPIs for the team and individual contributors, keeping results tied to business goals.
  • Contribute to R&D in FACTS control software to keep the company at the front of the field.

Requirements

  • Required: a degree in Electrical Engineering at bachelor's or master's level, or a similar field.
  • Required: experience designing substation or grid control software, for example for FACTS, HVDC, or renewable integration.
  • Required: experience developing engineering processes and applying continuous improvement methods.
  • Required: strong written and spoken English.
  • Preferred: Finnish language skills.
  • Preferred: a track record leading or mentoring engineers in an international setting.
  • Preferred: exposure to reactive power systems above 100 MVAr, such as STATCOM or SVC.
  • Preferred, nice to have: a formal Electrical Engineering degree at bachelor's or master's level. Experience and professional achievements matter more.
