Description

This role is part of the company's software-defined vehicle (SDV) program, focused on electrification software for its vehicles.

You will work with a team of skilled engineers on embedded systems, helping align development across the VMEC toward electrification and SDV goals.

Responsibilities

  • Turn customer inputs and system requirements into a sturdy software architecture model covering every software component tied to electrification.
  • Lead the design and development of electrification services based on the SDV solution definition.
  • Run and take part in software design and code reviews, keeping all work consistent with the architecture, standards and SAFe.
  • Write software requirements and functional specifications covering requirements analysis, architecture, data structures and low-level requirements, in line with the company's SDV vision.
  • Build, deploy and maintain software modules, and help design an industry-leading abstracted mechatronic platform for the company's new electronic architectures.
  • Write, unit test, debug and modify complex embedded software to meet project goals and dates, following SAFe.
  • Partner with skilled engineers to resolve cross-functional design problems and deliver high-quality products to end users, promoting ongoing learning and improvement in SAFe style.
  • Make sure software development meets ISO26262 and Automotive SPICE process requirements, and push the SDV agenda inside the organization.
  • Share technical and non-technical findings to head off problems and keep teams and departments aligned.
  • Help migrate to the new vehicle platform by establishing the supervisory controls architecture, leading key projects, maintaining governance and meeting industry standards.
  • Build quality in through a test-first approach using BDD and TDD to manage software complexity.
  • Improve tools, processes and software efficiency, and work with software system architects to raise code quality and reduce technical debt.
  • Refine designs continually toward shared best practices and efficient algorithms.
  • Reduce technical debt, including documentation gaps and cyclomatic complexity, and help resolve defects and PRTS issues.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in software engineering, information technology, electrical engineering, mechatronic engineering, automotive engineering or a related field.
  • 7 years in a role such as network protocol engineer, systems engineer, software development engineer, electrical system design engineer, technical specialist, software engineer or a similar role.
  • 7 years of automotive embedded software development, with strong C/C++ and Python scripting.
  • 7 years architecting embedded systems using sound design strategies and principles.
  • 7 years working with network protocols including CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet and SOME/IP.
  • 7 years with the vehicle development process, including timing and key engineering milestones.
  • 7 years applying CI/CD principles and automated test frameworks, including Agile frameworks.
  • 5 years building software on microcontrollers using Classic Autosar and Adaptive Autosar.
  • 5 years meeting ASIL A-D safety compliance.
  • 5 years of software tooling involving automation, code generation and fault injection.
  • 5 years using embedded development tools such as JIRA and GitHub.
