Description

The role focuses on improving how product development works by turning architecture standards, engineering best practices, and technical strategy into usable tools, workflows, and capabilities across the software development lifecycle.

You will work with engineering leadership, architects, innovation teams, and product teams to make engineering more consistent, higher quality, more efficient, and steadily better.

The team is global and builds an electronic health record product used in education, which teaches students digital charting and how to document care in current clinical settings. The product is stable, and the team aims to keep it that way. The team values trust, respect, collaboration, agility, and quality.

The company is a global information and analytics business serving researchers and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical rollout of practices, processes, workflows, and tooling that improve product development, working with the Chief Engineer, the Embedded Innovation team, Technology Architects, and product teams.
  • Turn architecture standards, engineering best practices, and guardrails into usable artifacts such as tools, plugins, skills, and agentic workflows that fit into the SDLC.
  • Build and maintain tooling and processes that expose architectural and quality risks early in the SDLC so they can be fixed quickly.
  • Stay hands-on with the tools and AI coding capabilities used in product development, including code reviews, prototypes, and pull requests where useful.
  • Help product teams solve complex technical problems in cost-effective ways, escalating to the Chief Engineer or Technology Architects when needed.
  • Make sure decisions and best practices set by the Architecture Board are implemented throughout the SDLC.
  • Drive adoption of internal engineering platforms, developer tooling, and reusable components in your assigned teams.
  • Identify and assess emerging technologies and engineering approaches, then use them to shape standards and pilot workflow improvements.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of architecture and software development methods, and the ability to apply them day to day.
  • Strong grasp of modern engineering practices and AI-assisted development, including their effect on quality, delivery speed, maintainability, and developer productivity.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and turn them into working tools and processes.
  • Proven record of putting technical direction and standards into practice across one or more product lines and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to turn technical findings into clear advice for engineering leadership.
  • Strong working knowledge of architectural design and governance.
  • Experience delivering complex projects and working directly with customers or internal stakeholders.

Conditions

Flexible hours: you can shift when you work during the day to fit your commitments and your most productive times.

If the role is based in Amsterdam (Radarweg, Netherlands), the base pay range is €110,500 to €184,000.

Exceptional applicants from anywhere in the world are considered, but not for relocation; the work would be done from your current location.

Equal opportunity and accommodation requests are supported throughout hiring.

Benefits

  • Wellbeing initiatives, shared parental leave, study assistance, and sabbaticals to support both current responsibilities and long-term goals.
  • Country-specific benefits are available for your location.
