Description

Graphing and Data Visualization is the organization responsible for how customers explore, analyze, and visualize complex data across our product. You will lead a global team spanning graphing, dashboards, data visualization, notebooks, search experiences, and emerging AI-powered interfaces, partnering closely with Product and Design to make complex data intuitive and actionable. You will shape the technical and organizational strategy for experiences that help a broad range of users work effectively with their data, including new ways for AI agents to create consistent, high quality the company experiences. This is an opportunity to lead a highly specialized engineering organization whose work reaches across the company product while advancing how customers interact with increasingly complex data.

At the company, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Graphing and Data Visualization engineering organization, setting technical and organizational direction across graphing, dashboards, notebooks, search, data visualization, and related data exploration experiences
  • Develop engineering leaders and senior engineers across a large organization, building an environment that supports strong technical execution, collaboration, and continued growth
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to make complex, high-volume data understandable and actionable for users with different needs and technical backgrounds
  • Guide the evolution of the systems, frameworks, and interfaces that enable teams across the company to build performant, consistent, and high-quality data visualization experiences
  • Advance AI-powered product experiences by enabling agents and conversational interfaces to reliably create graphs, visualizations, and dynamic data experiences
  • Influence product and engineering strategy across the company by bringing deep expertise in visualization, performance, user experience, and large-scale product engineering

Requirements

  • An experienced engineering leader who has led a large, multi-team engineering organization and developed engineering managers and senior technical leaders
  • Experience leading engineering teams responsible for data-intensive products, visualization platforms, analytics, business intelligence, notebooks, or other products where presenting complex information clearly is central to the user experience
  • A strong partner to Product and Design, with experience making technical and product decisions where usability, visual quality, and engineering architecture are closely connected
  • Technically grounded, with a computer science or equivalent technical background and the ability to engage deeply on software architecture, performance, and systems tradeoffs
  • Experience building performant product experiences and solving engineering challenges involving large or complex datasets, responsive interfaces, or computationally intensive workflows
  • Interested in how AI-assisted development and agent-based interfaces are changing the way users create, explore, and interact with software and data
  • The company values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits
