The company provides consulting, technology solutions and support services to U.S. government, defense and intelligence agencies, helping them handle complex problems and build more secure systems.
The team needs a database engineer and architect to design the core data and database structures used to load, integrate, manage, govern and maintain medical logistics information. Practical Oracle work in SQL and PL/SQL is essential, and you will lead the move toward PostgreSQL, Informatica integration, API-based services, containers and modern engineering methods. The data supports government and military medical supply chain customers, so your designs will shape how information is built and used going forward.
Responsibilities
Study business problems and choose suitable database and data architecture patterns, such as relational, dimensional, denormalized, integration and service-based designs.
Define architecture patterns for transactional, analytical, semantic, integration and enterprise information delivery.
Build conceptual, logical and physical data models that turn business concepts, rules and relationships into structures and integration designs that can be implemented.
Produce ERDs, data models and architecture documents with enterprise modeling tools so solution designs are clear to implementation teams.
Turn business needs into long-term architecture and practical SQL, database, integration and data service designs that meet business and technical requirements.
Keep data designs traceable to enterprise concepts, semantic definitions, authoritative sources, business rules and the information products that use them.
Lead the architecture of enterprise data integration, including Informatica-based data movement, transformation, orchestration, quality and source-to-target mapping.
Design API-driven and service-based data access and integration patterns that loosen direct coupling between applications and databases.
Create designs that support end-to-end lineage, change-impact analysis, data quality, metadata, stewardship, governance, security and authoritative source management.
Analyze complex datasets and build database solutions, including SQL, PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, views and related objects.
Improve performance through sound design of indexes, constraints, partitions, sequences, query patterns and integration workloads.
Assess legacy Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server systems and plan modernization, including PostgreSQL migration, API enablement, newer integration patterns and containerized deployment.
Set and enforce standards, design patterns, development practices, automated testing and technical and code review processes for database and data engineering.
Assess emerging database, integration, cloud, container and data platform technologies and recommend adoption that fits enterprise architecture and modernization goals.
Support data storage architecture, deployments, releases, testing, conversion, upgrades, production rollout, semantic modeling and authoritative, master and reference data strategies.
