Data Scientist

Description

The company is a large aerospace employer building out its digital work, and this role joins its People Analytics team inside the HR function.

This is a junior data scientist position. You will work with HR professionals to find and build use cases, and you will help spread data science know-how across HR.

The team is made up of data analysts and data scientists who work in an agile way, and you will coordinate between HR business teams, IT and the wider data science community.

Responsibilities

• Work with HR experts to find use cases where predictive or correlation analysis, simulations or classification methods will add value to the function.
• Build end-to-end AI models and present them clearly to business stakeholders.
• Explore the company's various data sources to develop use cases with HR professionals.
• Help build predictive scenarios for key projects.
• Act as a stakeholder across HR business and IT, and connect with the data science community to bring current technology into People Analytics.
• Promote data science awareness within the HR community.
• Stay aware of potential compliance risks and act with integrity.

Requirements

• Strong background in applied mathematics and Python.
• Advanced Python skills, including classes and objects, plus knowledge of GPU-based parallel and accelerated computing.
• Solid command of machine learning, deep learning and large language models (LLMs).
• Working knowledge of GitHub and PyTest.
• Experience with Spotfire and QlikSense.
• Basic experience integrating LLM APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic for standard NLP tasks and automation.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-changing environment.
• Organised, self-directed and collaborative, with a hands-on, pragmatic and entrepreneurial approach to building digital products.
• Strong problem solving and creativity, with the ability to apply innovation methods and tools across the innovation lifecycle.
• Clear communication with varied audiences, including senior management, and strong networking skills.
• Ability to explain model results, trade-offs and technical limits to product managers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Customer-focused, with the ability to design user-centric solutions.
• Good spoken and written English.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in data science.
• Desirable: experience with HR reporting systems such as Workday, PRISM or SAP BI.
• Desirable: basic knowledge of HR business and GDPR.
