Description

This role is not mainly database administration. You will combine environmental data management skills with wider digital work, covering workflow automation, reporting, dashboards and implementation support.

You will sit in a cross-functional digital group that supports environmental project delivery across the Americas, with day-to-day ownership of environmental data systems alongside work on digital rollouts across the business line.

The position is in Bucharest, Romania, chosen to overlap with teams in Western Canada.

The company is a global infrastructure firm in the Fortune 500, with revenue of $16.1 billion in fiscal year 2025, working across water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings.

The Enterprise Capabilities team has over 3,000 technical professionals in nine countries plus remote technical anchors. It supplies specialist expertise to regional and global business line projects, working across time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and support EQuIS environmental data systems, including custom reports and data quality workflows.
  • Extract and reshape environmental data for reporting, making sure it is fit for use by project teams.
  • Connect EQuIS outputs to Power BI dashboards and paginated reports, so data flows reliably from source to visual.
  • Diagnose EQuIS configuration faults, import failures and reporting problems for internal project teams.
  • Create and maintain Power BI dashboards, including data models, DAX calculated columns and measures, and reporting workflow setup.
  • Build print-ready structured reports as Paginated Reports (RDL).
  • Write SQL Server and T-SQL queries for complex reporting, using views, temporary tables and transformation logic.
  • Design and maintain relational data models and database structures that support reporting and workflow integration.
  • Build Power Automate workflows that orchestrate project and reporting processes.
  • Automate Excel work with macros and scripts to cut manual effort in data compilation and reporting.
  • Create or configure custom automation in Python, C or similar languages for data management, reporting pipelines and integrations.
  • Spot digitisation opportunities across project teams and build scalable, repeatable solutions.
  • Support onboarding, configuration, training material, and hypercare when digital tools roll out across the Environment business line.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned with the wider digital transformation team across the Americas.
  • Meet project teams at inception to pin down digital needs, set up suitable tools and define data flows.
  • Keep tools improving after launch by acting on feedback, handling scope changes and running close-out debriefs.
  • Write clear documentation and user manuals for tools and workflows.
  • Help connect the business line's platforms, including EQuIS, Power BI, Power Automate and other Microsoft tools.
  • Look for new applications and tools that fit the business line's changing needs.

Requirements

  • Required: at least two years in environmental consulting, environmental data systems or project delivery.
  • Required: proven experience with EQuIS for environmental data management, including report building and data workflows.
  • Required: hands-on work with Power BI, covering data modelling, DAX and Paginated Reports (RDL).
  • Required: experience with SQL Server and T-SQL, including queries, views and data transformation.
  • Required: experience building workflows or process automation in Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Required: advanced Excel skills, including macros and automation scripting in VBA and Power Query.
  • Required: strong organisation, a results focus, and the ability to juggle several priorities at once.
  • Required: excellent communication and a consultative, service-minded approach with internal stakeholders.
  • Required: Python scripting, particularly for data management, reporting automation or integration.
  • Required: custom development in Python, C or similar languages for tools or integrations.
  • Required: relational database design and data model development experience.
  • Required: strong English communication.
  • Required: a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to own creative, delivery-focused work.
  • Preferred / Advantageous: experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services or cloud data platforms for scalable integration and enterprise reporting.
  • Preferred / Advantageous: familiarity with API integrations and system-to-system data pipelines.
  • Preferred / Advantageous: exposure to DevOps practices such as version control and CI/CD for data and reporting solutions.
  • Preferred / Advantageous: broader knowledge of environmental consulting workflows, including field data, lab data, regulatory reporting and project lifecycle data.
  • Preferred / Advantageous: experience leading or supporting tool rollouts, change management and adoption across distributed teams.
