Data Engineer (Mid/Senior)

Description

The client is a gaming company set up to reform the national gaming system. It works on an exclusivity principle, aiming to offer games responsibly, reduce gambling-related harm, protect players and prevent fraud.

Its range covers three groups: Lucky Games, Casino Games and Betting Games.

You will join a mixed team of client and hiring-firm staff and work day to day with the client's Senior Product Owner and Lead Data Developer.

Responsibilities

• Build, run and improve data pipelines and ingestion on GCP.
• Write SQL transformations and dbt models on BigQuery, and handle streaming and ingestion with Kafka and Apache NiFi.
• Set up tooling and keep pipelines working across the development lifecycle, including production data workflows.
• Design solutions that scale, stay reliable and are easy to maintain, working with teammates and the client's stakeholders.
• Join architecture discussions and suggest improvements without waiting to be asked.
• Use GitLab, Jira and AI development assistants such as Claude or Antigravity in daily work.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with ETL or ELT workflows and building data pipelines.
• Strong SQL, plus experience with dbt or another SQL-based transformation tool.
• Experience with BigQuery or a similar cloud data warehouse.
• Experience with Kafka and with ingestion tools such as Apache NiFi.
• Knowledge of GCP or another cloud platform.
• Practical understanding of tool setup, pipeline operations and running production data workflows.
• Comfortable working with GitLab and Jira, and interested in using AI tools in development.
• English good enough for smooth team communication, ownership of your work, a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Additional skills: experience with Flink or Spark.
• Additional skills: experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD deployments.
• Additional skills: experience with Power BI.
• Additional skills: experience with Apache Airflow or another orchestration tool.
