Description

The company is a diversified trading firm with over 30 years of experience. It trades with its own capital, across markets worldwide, in Fixed Income, ETFs, Equities, FX, Commodities and Energy. It also runs three non-traditional strategies: real estate, venture capital and cryptoassets.

The firm is headquartered in Chicago, with offices across the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. Its people are expected to work with respect, curiosity and open minds, hold high standards and integrity, and be willing to challenge the consensus view.

This role sits within the Unified Platform (UP) Data Management team, which handles data across the full trade lifecycle, from research and execution through post-trade. Stakeholder questions often span years of data, several data stores and multiple financial domains.

This is a reporting and analysis position combining finance, trading operations and data engineering. Deadlines are firm, and your output goes to regulators, external auditors and firm leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Answer business questions using data.
  • Write and run extracts against the firm's data stores for requests from the front office, Tax, Legal and other units.
  • Improve market share reporting and analytics.
  • Support quarterly and annual tax and regulatory inquiries in several global jurisdictions.
  • Handle audit, litigation and class-action data requests, frequently on a short timeline.
  • Check every extract before delivery: cross-foot detail to aggregates, reconcile to source systems, and chase down discrepancies instead of explaining them away.
  • Record the business rules behind each report, including who made each decision and why.
  • Spot recurring patterns in incoming requests and work with engineering teams to turn them into lasting tools, such as dashboards, self-service views and scheduled reports.
  • Write specifications that set out the business logic, edge cases and validation criteria a tool must meet.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in data analysis, business intelligence, financial reporting or analytics engineering.
  • Advanced SQL, including complex multi-table joins, aggregation across different grains, CTEs and query performance tuning.
  • Python for data work: pandas and database connectivity, with repeatable scripts rather than one-off notebooks.
  • Experience with financial data such as trades, positions, pricing or reference data.
  • Careful attention to accuracy.
  • Clear written communication, since you will explain methodology to accountants, lawyers and auditors who do not read SQL.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field.
  • Experience writing requirements for engineering teams or building BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI or similar. This is listed as a requirement.
  • Exposure to tax, VAT/GST or regulatory reporting. This is listed as a requirement.

Conditions

Annual base salary range is $100,000 to $130,000, set by experience, qualifications and relevant skills.

The role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

Equal opportunity sentence omitted as not present in source.

Benefits

  • Group medical, pharmacy, dental and vision insurance.
  • 401k with discretionary employer match.
  • Short and long-term disability, life and AD&D insurance.
  • Health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts.
