Description

The cloud reliability engineering team keeps cloud platforms, infrastructure and services available, scalable, resilient, secure and well run.

You will be a senior member of the team, working with engineering groups to deliver dependable cloud services for current and future business needs.

Day-to-day work centres on automation, observability, incident handling and steady improvement.

You act as the technical lead for reliability, resiliency, availability and operations across several product and engineering teams.

Projects are complex and enterprise-wide, and you set reliability standards and operating policies using your own judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the uptime, reliability, scale and day-to-day health of cloud services and platforms.
  • Define SLIs, SLOs and reliability standards.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, problem management and continuous improvement.
  • Design, deploy and manage cloud platforms and infrastructure that fit business, architecture and security needs.
  • Design and build cloud solutions that protect and manage cloud-native applications and data.
  • Build monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, dashboards and reliability metrics.
  • Make production environments meet the company's security standards through security reviews, vulnerability fixes, compliance checks and penetration tests.
  • Automate provisioning, deployment, configuration and operations using Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps practices.
  • Work with DevOps and engineering teams on tooling and platform capabilities for cloud operations, microservices and distributed systems.
  • Help shape platform strategy, architecture, engineering roadmaps and proof-of-concept work.
  • Plan capacity, tune performance, and prepare disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Promote CI/CD, automated testing and reliability engineering practices.
  • Write runbooks, technical standards and architecture documentation, and mentor others on reliability and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • A four-year or graduate degree in computer science, information technology or a related discipline is recommended, though equivalent work experience or demonstrated competence is accepted.
  • Typically 7-10 years of work experience, ideally in distributed and cloud computing, software and cloud design, programming languages, agile methods or a related field.
  • Skills in site reliability engineering, cloud infrastructure and platform engineering, high availability and disaster recovery, observability, monitoring and alerting, incident management and root cause analysis, SLOs and SLIs, and performance and capacity engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure and GCP, Kubernetes and Docker, Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep), DevOps and CI/CD, cloud security and compliance, Python, Java and APIs, microservices and distributed systems, and automation engineering.
  • Preferred: certification in AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP or CSA.

Conditions

The pay range is $130,700 to $205,200 USD per year, with possible additional pay in the form of bonus and/or equity, for United States of America candidates only.
