Business Systems Engineer

Description

The company makes American rare-earth permanent magnets for critical industries including defense, aerospace, and automotive, with a focus on national security and economic resilience.

This role blends IT systems administration, application support, and light software development to improve business and manufacturing operations. You will work with internal departments to run applications, fix technical problems, and contribute to internal projects, including HRIS, LIMS, and AI-related initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Help implement, configure, maintain, and steadily improve enterprise applications such as HRIS, LIMS, and other business and manufacturing systems.
• Build, maintain, and fix integrations between internal and third-party applications using APIs, scripts, and other integration tools.
• Troubleshoot, modify, and improve company-developed applications and code repositories, and help with software releases.
• Support AI initiatives and automation projects by building application features, maintaining existing solutions, and adding new capabilities to business workflows.
• Work with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to improve software that supports production and laboratory work.
• Diagnose and resolve application faults, integration failures, and software problems, working with internal teams and external vendors.
• Keep technical documentation current for applications, integrations, code changes, system configurations, and operating procedures.
• Partner with IT, HR, Engineering, Operations, and other departments to understand their requirements and deliver technical solutions.

Requirements

• At least 3 years in IT systems, application support, systems analysis, software integration, or a similar technical role.
• Working knowledge of Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or a similar language, enough to write scripts, debug code, and change existing applications.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, JSON, and application integrations.
• Familiarity with Git, version control, and basic testing and deployment practices.
• Understanding of IT systems, authentication, access management, and application troubleshooting.
• Skill at finding the root cause of technical issues and putting practical fixes in place.
• Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and turn business needs into technical solutions.
• You must be a U.S. Person, because the role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
• Preferred: experience with Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, SQL databases, AI-assisted development tools, or manufacturing software environments.
• Physical requirements: you will need to be on the production floor regularly and move through all areas of the facility. This includes climbing stairs, standing and walking for long periods, and working in hot, humid, or noisy conditions. You must wear personal protective equipment, including respirators, for the duration of assigned tasks, pass required fit testing, follow all safety policies and regulations, and respond safely as conditions change.

Regular presence on the production floor is required.
