Brand Designer

Description

The company builds AI meant to extend human judgment and will. Its work covers training frontier models, Tinker, a tool that lets people shape models to their own needs, and interfaces that improve communication between people and AI.

The brand is being developed across many projects at once. The design team is small, flat and collaborative, and brand and product design overlap freely. You will have room to propose your own ideas, help choose which ones to pursue, and work with designers, engineers and researchers to build them.

The role suits an experienced brand designer with strong visual judgment who can also build what they design. You will shape how the company appears on its website, at launches, in publications and on physical objects, moving work from early exploration to finished output. Experimentation and a clear point of view are valued.

Responsibilities

• Explore visual directions and grow the brand through real projects, paying close attention to type, imagery, layout and interaction.
• Design and build the website, writing code as part of your process to test ideas and produce thoughtful digital experiences.
• Create tools and reusable systems that widen what the team can produce, such as artwork generators, data-driven charts and publishing components.
• Work with illustrators, animators and graphic designers, folding their output into finished projects and helping with production when needed.

Requirements

• A portfolio that shows original thinking, solid visual design fundamentals and careful execution across formats.
• Technical skill to build and ship digital work, with attention to accessibility, interaction detail and quality.
• Self-starting, clear communication. You can shape an open brief, share work early, take feedback and see a project through to the end.
• Preferred: an established agentic workflow, interest in new technology and curiosity about building your own tools. You can direct, assess and refine the output of agents.

Conditions

Based in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA.

Expected annual salary range of $300,000 to $400,000 USD, depending on background, skills and experience.
