AWS Databricks Platform Engineer

The CEE unit has nearly 1,000 specialists building applications, data platforms and AI solutions for clients such as Millennium, ING, Play, Edenred, Arabian Drilling, FedEx, Leroy Merlin, Truecaller, Volotea, Schmitz Cargobull and others. Its work spans AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks and Snowflake.

The role centres on the company's Databricks platform.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run Databricks workspaces and their platform services.
• Write and upkeep Terraform code for infrastructure as code.
• Roll out deployments with Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs) or a comparable framework.
• Build and keep CI/CD pipelines in good shape.
• Automate provisioning of infrastructure and environments, plus release management.
• Build and maintain Unity Catalog and help govern the enterprise data platform.
• Assist with validation and qualification work for the platform, including automatically generated evidence.
• Help prepare disaster recovery, make resilience better and test recoveries.
• Build and maintain data ingestion routes and related platform features.
• Handle platform change control under documented procedures.
• Run day-to-day platform operations, including sandbox provisioning.
• Partner with colleagues across platform, cloud, SRE, architecture and engineering.
• Help with knowledge transfer, platform handover and operational transition.

Requirements

• Hands-on Databricks administration and engineering skills.
• Strong Terraform skills for infrastructure as code.
• Experience with DABs or similar deployment frameworks.
• Track record of building and keeping CI/CD pipelines.
• Grasp of cloud operations and DevOps methods.
• Know-how in automating platforms, provisioning environments and managing releases.
• Knowledge of DR, resilience and recovery test practice.
• Background in cloud setups at enterprise scale.
• Good at working alongside platform, cloud, SRE and engineering staff.
• Good at solving problems and explaining things clearly.
• Comfortable in regulated settings where processes are documented and changes are controlled.
• Time spent in GxP-regulated settings.
• Past work on IQ/OQ and other qualification and validation tasks.
• Understanding of how governance works on enterprise data platforms.
• Hands-on use of Unity Catalog in build and upkeep.
• Involvement in big data modernization programmes at scale.
• Some exposure to systems running on AWS.
• Comfort handing over a platform and moving it into operations.
