AVP Senior Java Developer

Description

The role is an intermediate-level Senior Java Developer position that helps establish and build new or revised application systems and programs with the Technology team.

The goal is to contribute to application systems analysis and programming work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, technology risk work, and applications development, including model development.
• Create or revise application systems and programs that meet specific business needs or user areas.
• Oversee every stage of development, from analysis and design through construction, testing and rollout, and support business users on applications.
• Apply deep applications development expertise to complex problems, evaluate business processes, system processes and industry standards, and make sound judgement calls.
• Recommend and build security measures by reviewing how systems are used after launch, so the design and functionality hold up.
• Advise users, clients and other technology groups, propose advanced programming solutions, and install and support customer exposure systems.
• Make sure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes.
• Advise and coach new or junior analysts.
• Work with limited direct supervision, using your own independent judgement.
• Act as subject matter expert for senior stakeholders and team members.
• Assess risk when making business decisions, with close attention to the firm's reputation and to protecting the company, its clients and its assets. Comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations, follow policy, use sound ethical judgement, and escalate, manage and report control issues openly.
• You may also be assigned other job-related duties as needed.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications.
• Experience delivering projects successfully from start to finish.
• Working knowledge of consulting and project management techniques and methods.
• Ability to perform under pressure and handle deadlines or sudden changes in expectations or requirements.
• Expert-level Java development skills.
• Expert experience designing and building robust, scalable and resilient enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience with event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka.
• Experience designing and building databases on an RDBMS platform.
• Proficiency in API development and application security best practices, such as OAuth, TLS and PKI.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• A drive to adopt industry best practices and new technologies with an exploratory approach.
• Original ideas and a can-do attitude.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle tight deadlines or sudden priority changes.
• Willingness to ask questions, challenge the status quo and look for answers.
• Ability to work independently, juggle multiple tasks, take ownership and drive strategy.
• Impeccable integrity and judgement.
• Bachelor's degree or university degree, or equivalent experience.
• Desirable: Experience with distributed caching technologies, such as Redis or Gemfire.
• Desirable: Experience with modern UI frameworks, such as React or Angular.

Conditions

Full-time position in the Applications Development job family within the Technology group.

Primary location salary range: $94,300.00 - $141,500.00.
