Associate/Envir. Health & Safety Engineer

Description

This individual contributor role applies knowledge of safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science and math to find, study and fix safety and environmental problems.

The company is growing its semiconductor business with silicon carbide chips in the U.S. and plans to invest some $1.9 billion in its Roseville, California site over the coming years.

The first SiC semiconductors will be made at this site on 200-millimeter wafers starting in 2026.

The company operates in most countries and has over 400,000 associates.

You will build good working relationships with other safety and environmental engineers and site staff.

Responsibilities

• Investigate accidents and incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Run the Respiratory Protection Program.
• Teach safety and environmental training classes.
• Manage the onsite Emergency Response Team (ERT).
• Prepare environmental reports for local, state and federal agencies.
• Oversee universal, recycling and hazardous waste management.

Requirements

• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
• Familiarity with industrial hygiene monitoring methods and equipment.
• Understanding of basic safety management practices.
• Familiarity with federal and state hazardous waste management rules.
• Understanding of air pollution abatement.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment and basic regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of the chemicals and gases used in semiconductor processes.
• Ability to read and apply government and statutory regulations, policies and procedures to keep the site compliant.
• Understanding of Cal-OSHA rules, the International Fire Code, hazardous waste management, air quality and water discharge permits, building codes, mechanical codes, plumbing codes, hazardous material handling plans and/or emergency response.
• Associate level, preferred: 0-2 years at a manufacturing or industrial site in a safety, environmental or facilities role.
• Engineer level, preferred: 2-4 years at a manufacturing or industrial site in a safety, environmental or facilities role, and preferably a current Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional board certification.
• Preferred: direct experience in California.

Conditions

Full-time, on site in Roseville, California.

Work Monday to Friday, with overtime and on-call duty when needed.

Open only to people authorized to work indefinitely in the US, since future work authorization sponsorship is not available.

Base salary range is $80,000-$100,000. Pay within the range depends on factors such as experience, job knowledge, role complexity and job location. Your recruiter can give more detail during interviews.
