Associate Data Developer

Description

The team supports the company's enterprise data warehouse and analytics platform, delivering data, metrics, dashboards and business insights to groups across the organization.

The company builds software for safety-critical systems in automotive, aerospace and defense, energy, industrials, and medical technology.

This role blends data development, analytics, business intelligence and automation. You will aim for solutions that scale and follow current data engineering and analytics practice.

You will work directly with business and executive stakeholders, helping shape the path data takes from ingestion through modeling to visualization.

Responsibilities

• Examine complicated datasets and turn them into insights that cross-functional teams can act on.
• Meet with stakeholders to pin down what they need and convert those needs into data and analytics solutions.
• Create dashboards and visualizations in Tableau or another modern BI tool.
• Keep data moving through ingestion, transformation, modeling and visualization.
• Clean and model data yourself when it is not yet available in the visualization layer.
• Build and upkeep solutions written in SQL, Python and dbt.
• Build tools, processes and automation that lighten the load on the data stack and meet stakeholder needs.
• Track new analytics initiatives, spot obstacles to adoption, and help put fixes in place.
• Champion good data engineering and analytics habits and coach junior engineers.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science. A focus in Data Engineering is a plus.
• At least 1 year working with Tableau or another modern BI tool.
• At least 1 year of SQL work. Snowflake SQL is preferred.
• At least 1 year working with dbt. Semantic layer experience is a plus.
• At least 2 years of Python development.
• Experience with enterprise systems such as Workday, Oracle Business Suite (OBI/HRIS), Salesforce, Jira, Adaptive or Anaplan is a plus.
• HTML and JavaScript as they relate to Looker is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the drive to own work and act on your own initiative.
• Ability to work on your own and collaborate well with cross-functional and global teams.
• Fluent written and spoken communication.
