Job Summary

The Design Systems, Research and Governance organization is responsible for creating and evolving the foundations, standards, tools, and practices that enable consistent, accessible, and high-quality digital experiences across the company. Our team works across design systems, user research, and design governance, partnering with product, design, engineering, and business teams to help shape experiences at scale.

We are looking for a UX Researcher to lead and execute research initiatives that uncover customer needs, behaviors, motivations, and pain points across digital experiences, products, and services. This role will independently manage the full research lifecycle, from defining research objectives and selecting the right methodologies to synthesizing findings and translating insights into clear, actionable recommendations.

Working closely with cross-functional partners, the researcher translates user insights into actionable opportunities that improve customer experiences, support business goals, and inform experience strategy. This position emphasizes qualitative research while leveraging complementary methods when appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan, conduct, and manage end-to-end user research studies aligned to product, design, and business objectives.
  • Select and apply appropriate qualitative research methods, including interviews, usability testing, concept evaluation, and journey-based research.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify research opportunities and define key learning objectives.
  • Engage with customers, users, and internal stakeholders to gather insights that inform product, service, and experience direction.
  • Analyze and synthesize research findings into clear themes, opportunities, and strategic recommendations.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops to synthesize findings, build shared understanding of customer needs, identify experience opportunities, and drive alignment on product, service, and design decisions.
  • Evaluate concepts, prototypes, and existing experiences to identify usability issues, unmet needs, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support product and experience planning by identifying customer needs, emerging trends, and areas of opportunity.
  • Communicate findings through compelling storytelling, presentations, reports, and workshops tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Advocate for customer-centered decision-making and help teams integrate research insights throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Maintain research documentation, insight repositories, and knowledge-sharing practices to maximize value and accessibility of research across teams.

  • Education & Experience Recommended
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design Research, Psychology, Human Factors, Social Sciences, HCI, or related field.
  • Typically 4-6 years of experience in UX research or design research.
  • Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong expertise in qualitative research methods and selecting appropriate approaches to answer business and user-centered questions.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic reasoning skills.
  • Ability to independently design research studies that address both stakeholder objectives and user needs.
  • Skilled at synthesizing qualitative data into meaningful insights, opportunity areas, and actionable recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and research's role throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Excellent interviewing, moderation, facilitation, and active listening skills.
  • Experience communicating research findings through presentations, workshops, reports, and storytelling techniques that influence decision-making.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience conducting both moderated and unmoderated remote research studies.
  • Familiarity with research platforms and tools such as UserTesting, User Interviews, Dscout, HeyMarvin or similar solutions.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled research tools and workflows to accelerate study planning, synthesis, and insight generation while maintaining methodological rigor, accuracy, and research quality.

  • Influences product, service, and experience decisions through insights and recommendations.
  • Contributes to organizational knowledge by scaling insights, sharing learnings, and promoting research-informed decision-making.

Conditions

The pay range for this role is $105,050.00 - 152,350.00 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
